Oscar grinders

I may play 2-3 sessions a day when I'm in Vegas playing purples. Goal is 4-10 units per session based on the run. Goal for weekend is 10k, typically do a 1-4 spread with a quit point of 4
 
Are you saying you never go higher than a 4 unit bet?!

Are you saying you go for more than one unit per series?

If you're doing well with it why do you never play more than 3 sessions a day?
 
I think it's the stress factor, I don't enjoy sitting at the table for hours. The money I win takes care of my weekend and shopping. My philosophy, as long as your up, you can't lose. Yes, I typically don't play more than a 2 k hand. I like to have small bet spreads at high chick denomination

Then you must have many losing series if you only go up to 4 units. That actually is not Oscar. Oscar would continue going up until he got ahead by
one unit. How many units are you willing to lose before you start a fresh
series?
 
I guess I don't play to win one chip, but a big double down or split can push me over that 1 chip goal. I would guess I win my sessions 75%. since incorporating quit points, saved me big time from past losses. Been doing this for approximate 2.5 years with success
 
No, ive dabbled into counting years ago. I did not enjoy it and did not make sense to me to put a big bet out when the count was high to lose during a bad streak. I could not continue going to the casinos counting and still leaving with a beating when I went home with my buddy who was using a simple progression with thousands in his pocket. Counting not for me, minimal time at tables, minimal times at casino, big bets
 
Do you think your bets have a pos. percentage advantage overall? Or, do you think you are winning all this time against an average neg. advantage?
How do you account for your winnings if overall you are playing with a disadvantage?
 
No, I don't have a positive advantage over blackjack. I can only go by the results, which is more money in my bankroll then I started 2.5 years ago playing this way. Understand the mathematics behind counting systems to reach a 1-2% advantage with no mistakes, now I will observe big or little cards coming out if I'm stuck on a decision. I do agree playing thousands or hundreds of thousands of hands will get you ahead of the game as well, but my time in my business is much more valuable. Occasional play , short duration, with big bets, this is the way to go!!
 
My understanding is that Oscar would play all day each day of every weekend. He never lost. He never used stop loses. He only played craps pass line. He did this for a good 20 years! Now, what you are doing is different. You stop going up at 4 bets! That seems like such a short series to me. I just don't see how you do it!:confused:
 
I think it's due to the fact of my chip bet of 500-2k a hand. If I played red or green, would need to spend much more time to make worth while
 
I would like to see you work a couple of sessions but you know how that always goes. You would have big losing sessions and you would blame my bad mo jo for it!!:eek:

Your strategy does not appear to me to be OG. Can you describe the rules you apply and the dollar amount of your initial series bet?

I play a lot of OG. Everything I'm reading in your posts seems contradictory to the technique I employ.

PS: Damn, I miss Vegas.

It is best to simply speak in terms of units only. Obviously TMV is using an
extremely modified version of OG. I would say it is so modified that it is definately NOT OG. I think if you get a book by an author by the name of Thompson you would get a much better idea of what TMV is actually doing.

I always find it very dubious when someone is using a system that works, but only if you use it very little and quickly. Just a few losing sessions in a row can bring down many a session that came before it. Has TMV had to suffer a series of loses? How much is he willing to lose in any one session? He already said he goes for at most 20 units per session. But how many will he tolerate to lose in any one session? These things we do not know at this point.
A person can play for years like this and actually only put in a total of a few hours of play all together. Wait till the neg. variance hits. How does it fair then??? How would you feel if you lost nearly all of your winnings in a short period that took years to get? Would you feel like continuing along the same playing style?? I doubt it.
