I was stuck at the table with two friends of the pit boss in a busy day. The pit boss came to my table a lot to chat and joke with his friends who also asked a lot about what to do with their hands. Pit boss answered them according to basic strategy. I hate it because I was forced to reduce my spread every time he was near. Even so, in his last visit, the pit boss told them it is the end of his shift. If they have more questions how to play with their hands, ask this young man. He is a great counter. He pointed to me. I have never been singled out before because I am always extremely careful with good act.

I love this casino because it is new and many pit bosses have absolutely no clue but not this one.
genius, you sound WAY paranoid...just play dude and don't sweat it so much...you said he was joking w/ his friends at your table...ever occur that he was joking/showing off in front of his buddies with you???...this is WAY different than the way i suspected this confrontation went down from your OP... also, when something like this happens, learn to give it right back - especially if in a joking manner as you state...i do a lot of business in NY - the consummate BALL BUSTERS of the US - and i have learned to give it back DOUBLE...i would have probably said something like, while slowly pointing to my hand, 7...plus...ten is 17, yes, i can count..you think i'm going to leave that up to YOUR dealers???

once i couldn't get a seat at the DD game so i sat at a 8D to buy time and to see if a spot opened up...i go on to lose several hundred dollars until a seat opens up at the DD and get my loss back and am up quite a bit....PC then says to me.."can't you count 8 decks"...so i think to myself..you are real f#$%ing MORON..before looking it right in the eye, shaking my head, and say " i have no clue what you are talking about"...WTF who can count 2D, but can't count 8D??? NO ONE!!!- (more tedious, same principle) - but thanks PC for showing your hand - that is, you have no clue - PC just saw me winning and assumed i was up to something...at least in poker you have to read a tell...this clown just came out and told me they had no clue about counting cards.

keep in mind, VERY FEW players count, and of those that do, VERY FEW do it successfully...if you are truly winning SUBSTANTIAL money in BJ by counting alone, you are in the MINORITY so they do not come across the likes of you often and you can get away with (a lot) more than you think if you are smart about it

There are actually many people who can count 2 decks but not 8. 8 decks requires a much longer attention span. It's not that they physically can't count 8, but it requires more concentration. A few of my friends are "advanced ploppies" that spread 1-3 on the double deck game, and would never try counting a 6D or worse.

Should I leave immediately when I was made?
No. Just say, "Thank you, but I can't really remember all the cards that have been played. I think a lot of its luck."

It might help you look dumb if you say the dealer's hand total wrong, such as if he busts with 22, look disappointed and say that he got 21.

I know. It is the old trick I often use. I also often asked if my hand is 17 even I know it is 15 or 16, and I often shown I have difficulties to add 5 or more cards.

That pit boss surprised me because he is new so I assume he is as dumb as most pit bosses in this casino or somehow the eye in the sky caught me.
