Pivot Point - Deck penetration

#1
Hi, newbie here and had a quick question .
Is it possible to adjust your pivot point to take into account the level of Deck penetration.

Example: 6 Deck shoe and dealer deals 5 decks. Since you already know that 52-58 cards are not going to be dealt, can you change your pivot to reflect this while keeping the same advantage?

I'm starting with KO and using a running count. I use an IRC of 0 and my pivot would be 6*4 = 24. When my count gets to + 24, I know the number of High cards vs number of low cards are equal in the deck and at + 25 I have 1 more high card than low card giving me additional advantage.

When playing Casino Verite and I adjust the shuffle points there is a huge difference. At shuffle point of 99% dealer deals whole deck, I always reach my pivot on multiple occasions, but when I set it to dealer only deals though 5 decks, my counts only gets up to + 11+15 and really never reaches my count of + 24, and if it does it is only for a got second before it its time to shuffle. This also prevents me to use a ramp bet strategy of + 9 + 12 + 15 etc prior to place my max bet.

I am just thinking about this phenomenon of deck penetration and (Thinking out loud) what would happen if I adjust my pivot from + 24 down to + 20 knowing that 1 deck will not be dealt. Would I still get the same advantage or disadvantage...does the math work?

Thanks for your help

Hi , thanks for the response. Curious, do you use KO at all? So if I set my IRC to = 0 (more comfortable for me) and I'm playing with 6 decks, when my count reaches + 24 + 25 I know there are an even or 1 more high card than low card and with 3 shoes remaining, it is at that count right there at that moment that I have the advantage? Just curious because I know there are cards that have yet to be played and cards that will never be played and since those cards would never come out, then I was thinking my real advantage maybe under or overstated. Almost like when using a True count and dividing by the remainder of the deck, the more decks you have left to divide, then the less your advantage.

Thanks for the help

I don't use KO for BJ but when you reach the pivot point, your advantage is equivalent to +4 HiLo triggering your max bet. It makes no difference where in the shoe this occurs. COB references TKO.
