Player's card(s)

#1
I got backed off at a casino that is part of a MAJOR chain, and can only assume that presenting my player's card in any of that chain's casinos at a blackjack table is now verboten.

I've managed to get a new card with a new name. My question is: if I actually stay at that casino, should I use the 'bad' card at non-blackjack games or slots to keep up appearances and hopefully keep the comp offers coming (I'm willing to play a few hours at a disadvantage at some other games), or just use the new card exclusively. Is it too risky to present two different cards at two different games, or would I be creating something bad if they see no play on the old card that got the free room?

I will be able to collect mail offers mailed to the new card's address. However, is it hard to use those offers and pay with my real name's credit card?

It is easy to obtain a credit card in the other name. Just add a second user to your account. That said, you'll need a photo id to check in to most places.
The good news is if the major chain was Harrahs, there is an almost complete disconnect between the marketing department and the casino department. Getting banned from playing BJ won't affect your marketing offers. Minimal slot or VP play will keep these offers coming, and completely stiffing them doesn't seem to affect them either.

Also, as far as I understand things, presenting a fake ID to a hotel employee to check in to your room is not a crime. You generally have a common law right to call yourself whatever you want. Now, if you give a fake to the cops, or use it to gamble underage, that's a different story.

Most hotels won't take an obviously fake id.,especially when it comes to comped rooms.

You apparently don't live in a college town :). Good fakes aren't THAT hard to come by...

I'm a former niteclub owner that still has his fingers in the business. Trust me when I tell you good fakes are very hard to come by. Most casinos and hotels will scan your id and getting a fake id that scans is very expensive.

I've never seen a hotel 'scan' my ID. They just look at it to see that the name matches my credit card and reservation. Over 120 hotel stays in the last 10 years.

No one will ever successfully scan my drivers license. I won't say how I did it, but not too many people have the equipment available to do it.

They're not looking for fake ID when someone asks for a players card, nor when an obvious adult enters a nightclub or hotel so it won't be an issue for most of us.

I'm guessing you don't hit too many niteclubs. I was almost denied admission to Studio 54 last year because I went out without a wallet, even thought I was on their VIP guest list, not the bs regular guestlist.
Clubs scan licenses for two reasons- 1) they use it to project a mailing list and 2) they want a photo id if everyone in the club. In El Padrinos, we had a video camera recording the entrance and could link up video footage to the time a license was scanned. In the event of a problem that needed police involvement, we could match up almost every face in a photo to a persons id.
I'm not sure about all localities, but in NY altering a DL in any form besides changing your address is an arrestible offense. Presenting a license that was altered to prevent being scanned will either get you denied admission or ,if the guy at the door happens to be a NYPD officer, possibly arrested.
Do whatever you want with that info.

Casinos only swipe (not scan) your ID when checking you for age purposes...in that case always give your real one. Players clubs like to scan ID when you sign up for a card...just refuse and they'll won't do it. If they insist you have a choice to make. When checking into a hotel I know of at least one famous player who was busted at check-in...most hotel clerks just glance at your ID and return it or just look at it through the ID window in your wallet.

Good luck proving I did it.

There are surely plenty of licenses out there that won't scan, just dirty or worn.

I didn't alter (change accurate information to false information, like changing a name or DOB) anything, just removed some encoding so the person checking the ID doesn't get any information other than what is plainly written on the front, which is not altered. Not my problem if they're too lazy to type it in.

At a casino, I've been carrying a passport in case I ever have to show ID. It doesn't have my address, and they won't be able to give the info to a pig buddy who can get additional info from DMV.

I'm still unclear what people mean by 'scan your ID'. One ID has a magnetic stripe on the back, another has a weird barcode like thing (which I believe is a digital representation of my fingerprint.)

Is this reference to 'scanning my ID' getting a digital picture of it or omething else? I gather 'swiping' means running the magnetic strip through the reader.

Personally, I can't recall anyone doing anything special with my ID other than looking at it and comparing it to my credit card when I check in at a hotel, or reading the info off of it and typing it in when getting a player's card at the Player's Club (which is better than handing it to the pit boss.)

I had a comp room revoked at a harrahs property, so I wouldn't go as far as complete disconnect.

The ever-increasing number of employees of all kinds of businesses asking me to pry my driver's license out of my wallet and hand it over, then requiring me to carefully stuff it back into the little window, is a pet peeve of mine. (It's another example of America turning into a nation of sheep that people put up with this nonsense.)

Recently, on checking into a Strip hotel, a particularly insistent desk clerk wanted me to take my license out of my wallet, and would not back down when I just showed it, and refused to take it out. I said that I saw no good reason that I should go to the trouble of removing it, or putting it in his hands, and he couldn't give any. He just said that it was the hotel's "policy." I said that MY policy was that he should go f*** himself--or less rude words to that effect. And I asked for a supervisor. He disappeared into an office, someone else emerged, and she checked me in without another word.

Something to consider if you don't want to risk your license being scanned or copied.

All casinos in same chain may not have been notified

I was backed off in a major chain and play at the other stores with no problem. I don't want to mention the chain here unless it can't hurt anyone in any way. If you go to another store from the same chain and they tap you again you certainly are not in the same store where they told you couldn't play BJ. I took the chance last year and this year with no problem. I played for 30minutes, won and left. I still get comp offers also.

I got barred from a major chain, so went and got another ID with a new name and continue to play rated with my new ID.

I have gotten players club cards at several chains with my "new" ID, and most of the places scan them but when they don't scan EVERY time the person just shrugged and manually typed in the info or said "hmm it didn't scan" and then I said "weird" and they typed it all in.

Vegas doesn't check for age at the door anyway but in places like the Midwest where they do I just walk in with my real ID for them to check then switch to my other ID.

At the Orleans Players Club desk I was getting an ID made with my REAL ID and it didn't even scan for some reason. In my experience Players Clubs don't care.

I also have used my new ID to check into many hotels and they never scan and if they want a CC I just pay a cash deposit.

Major chains share, but not each and every back off. I guess you didn't fit the profile of a large enough risk, whatever that is.

I agree Aslan

I had won between 300 and 1400 five times in one day for a total of 3300.
I was tapped while losing 400 my 6th time. I am sure a large hit would be shared. Since then I have visited only 4x, but not in one day and did well each time. I guess the question is "Should he try a different store in the same chain?"
