Playing at HET Properties

#1
I am somewhat new to blackjack, and will be traveling to LV in a few weeks. I usually play craps and poker, but sometimes I like to play bj. I have read on here than the HET properties are not good for bj....but unfortunately, all my rewards are with HET Total Rewards...so I really want to play there.
Staying at the Planet Hollywood. Is it really that bad to play there? I assume it will be 8 deck, H17, 6-5 games.
Does anyone have any advice..or at a minimum, can confirm what game HET runs so I can have the right strategy card with me/
Thanks!!

Their craps is better than their blackjack. If you go, expect 6:5 at many properties, with many of the only honest games being higher limits at places like Caeser's, etc. But yeah, at the lower limits, expect 8D H17 noRSA noLS and probably 6:5, depending on the property.

Harrahs properties have plenty of 3-2 shoe games. Why people feel the need to post misinformation is beyond me.
Shadroch - can you be more specific? Do they run 3-2 shoe games at lower limits ($10/$15)?

Also - do you recommend single deck games? Those tables are often empty...and I figure there is a reason for that.

Thanks.

I'm certainly not intentionally trying to post misinformation, but a lot of the HET places in Vegas have terrible games, including many 6:5 games. This includes the shoe games. Upon checking the latest conditions, it seems that HET casinos do have 3:2 games as well at all properties, which is better than I remembered, but let's be honest here--blackjack at most HET properties is absolute garbage, with the only games worth even considering being at higher-than-average limits. Get a load of that great Flamingo $100 game! And to answer another question in the thread, no, I don't believe any HET properties have honest single-deck games (all 6:5), but I might be wrong.

My apologies on the inaccurate info.

Thank you. Is there a site you use to find out what games are playing at specific properties? Sorry for the 'remedial" questions.

I'm not aware of any SD game on the strip worth playing.
As far as Harrahs goes, when I last played the strip in Feb, they had a DD H17, DOA game that was generally a $10 minimum but I did see it for $5 one morning around 9AM. Imperial Palace has a mediocre $10 game.
Osheas has nothing but terrible games. Minimums are Flamingo, Paris, Ballys vary wildly by the time of day. I have not been in Caesars since they removed The Race For Atlantis 3-D simulated rollercoaster.

It's a sad sad day when non-APs start to assume and accept that BJ is "normally" offered with 6:5 payouts...

My first trip to Atlantic City, I walked the Boardwalk looking for BJ that paid 2-1. I thought 3-2 was a ripoff.

Its not just HET, I think even at MGM properties...

Like....Mandalay.

They have a 6:5 shoe game, but of course there are dancing girls involved.

In March when I was at planet hollywood, they had a shoe game with good pen, and surrender to boot. It was very playable. I believe it was $15 game, but it may have been $10. The double deck sucked, and the single deck was 6 to 5 which has become the strip standard fare.

PS--you could also resplit Aces, which you don't see much nowadays.

Aslan,

Do you recall if your play in March at PH was before the HET days? I'm not sure when they really took over the casino floor and began changing the games.

I think they changed over the week I was there. It was the first time that I ever experienced 50% pen at ph or Aladdin before it in the double deck game.

I played post change at PH.

The game at PH became like the game at other HET properties. Marginal.

and plenty of better games on the Las Vegas Strip
