Please Explain The Details Of Playing Rated

Greetings,

I searched but couldn't find a post that explained the actual details of playing rated.

That is, I know when I buy in on (for example on Green), I'd start with only $200 and hand my card to the dealer. The dealer would then shout out "buying in for $200" and then the PB would come over and make the entry. If I lost that, then I'd move up to $300, the dealer would again shout out and the $300 would be recorded, and so on. But what happens at the end of my session, do I simply leave whether I've won or lost?

Or, do I specifically request the PB at the end of my session (and stand around with my chips till he/she arrives--so the PB can take an inventory of my chips)? Obviously if I've lost I'd want to have that loss "booked" for the value it brings. But what if I've won nice win of say 50 units--$1250? What about a good win of 100 units--$2500?

Its the pitboss's job to determine when you left,how long you played, how much your average bet was and your wins or losses.
Usually, the dealer will ask you to color up and this alerts the PB that you are leaving.
You do not get comps based on losses, you get them based on the amount of action you give them. If you had a winning session, you may want to rathole a few chips, but its best to do this with lower denomination ones. Casinos pay close attention to the higher chips and may well know you won more green chips than you colored up. This, of course, depends on the casino you are playing.
The only time I let a PB know I'm leaving is if I want a comp from him.

If I recall correctly, in Burning The Tables In Las Vegas, IA said he'd actually help the PB with the accounting! Which the gave him the opportunity to ask the PB what he was recording for his average bet and how many hands per hour! (That's why I was confused about how to end a session.) I'm concluding from the book that IA basically then "checked out" with the PB after every session when he was playing rated? What does everyone think of this tactic?
