I read JulieCA's post about a guy bumming cigarettes. We know it's high among gamblers, but APs aren't gamblers, right? So that made me wonder how many APs smoke.

Quit 22 years ago. Was coughing a lot. Probably wouldn't be here now if I hadn't quit. Regarding gamblers, I like horse racing, and I have noticed that there is a much higher percentage of smokers at the track than in the general population.

Quit tobacco "permanently" around Oct./2002.
Had mitral valve replacement surgery Thanksgiving/2002.
Friends said "that'll teach ya to do something good for yourself." :p
I have officially given up almost all my vices.

P.S. tobacco is a truly insidious addiction.

I try to always have a pack with me in case I need to get some asshole ploppy to leave my table. Where's the box I check to vote for that?

I ask the ploppy very sincerely: Will it bother you if I smoke? And when the say YES, I immediately
light up and tell the dealer, "Will you tell him/her where the non-smoker tables are?" zg

Never have and never will! My hubby smoked from age 15 and has been tobacco free for three years.

I have smoked cigars a few times but not for more than 5 years!

I smoke when gambling, but never at the table. I always stand up and walk a few feet away, even if others are smoking at the table.
Outside of casinos, I have about one cigarrete a month, sometimes less.
smoked a pack a day from age thirty to fourtysomething. Quit about five years ago.

I smoked 2 and 1/2 packs of Marlboro a day back when i gambled at pool on a daily basis, 365 days a year. One day I couldn't breathe, so I went to the doctor. He laughed (honest) and said I always had at least half my lungs filled with smoke at all times. Said he never saw a more perfect candidate for cancer. That laughing hyena makde me so nervous I increased my smoking output by about a pack a day for a couple of weeks. But actually, I have him to thank in part for finally breaking the habit in 1972.

They say your body replaces every cell in seven years. I don't know if that's a fact, but it's a comforting thought after what I put my body through.

Today I only smoke other people's smoke, which I sincerely hope is not as bad as some say, since I spend lots of time in smoky casinos and pool rooms.

Colorado casinos don't permit smoking indoors, but some of the smokers are obvious - they're the ones lugging around the oxygen tanks (the casinos are 8000 ft above sea level).

30 years in September

I kicked the habit 9/28/81. I had just bought a new Corvette and was determined to not smoke in it! One of the few intelligent moves I made in my youth.
I'm convinced that I would have died several years ago, had I not quit smoking.

What an excellent idea! Makes me wanna start up again. And this technique makes you look very polite too!! I think I will use those little cigarillos, they could easily last until the end of a shoe.:)

I was a social smoker in my early 20s. After I had my first child, I'd join my husband for a smoke in the garage at the end of the day and finally quit even that. Didn't smoke for 20 years, then started social smoking again.

Outside the casino, I smoke about a pack a week. I don't even want to admit how much I smoke when I play blackjack.
