Possible to become winner just by playing BS?

I don't think the casino will be bankrupted - the majority of players will continue to bet the table min or modestly and deviate from BS by standing on their stiffs and not soft doubling etc. It will experience a higher loss for the two hours but I'm sure will make up for it somewhere within the house.

I suspect that some bright spark in the management team has been prodded to come up with ideas to increase the footfall, and this is one of those that has been proposed without any real idea of the effects on the HE or the maths. As Flash has said, when they realise the cost it'll be toast - probably after just a single session it that happens to coincide with visits from a few people who understand the game.

Shame I can't be there. . . .
You one of the peole that really should be there :p.

Think i will have more details tonight!

There is 0.000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance that this promo goes off as described. You never, ever, ever even see a 2:1 BJ promo anymore. You won't see a 2:1 BJ and 3:2 winners promo, ever. Why is this being discussed?

Right the promo is defo going on done it today but a slight change.

They promotions happens one one hand per hour between 9pm to 2am.

So really what should i be betting during those hands?

Thanks

Bet the most you feel comfortable losing. You only have a one in twenty something chance of getting a BJ, and have a better chance of losing the hand than you do of winning it

In that case you should bet the 400. There are probably some hands you shouldn't bust like 16 v 10. I'm sure there are others but I'll leave that to some of the math heads to answer.

Is it a hand you nominate or do they just announce "this hand will pay . . . ."

If it's one of choice, wait for the TC to hit +4, put out a hefty bet and tell them you'll take your chances then.

If it's one they nominate (and if so I bet it's off the top of a new shoe), it's worth taking your chances with a hefty bet many times higher than your usual table min. £60 will win you £90 if you get a result, which is the equivalent of 18 units straight away (or roughly 9 hours earnings if you take the EV at 2 per hour). If you get a raspberry you haven't crippled yourself. Just keep in mind the balance between risk and return. Off the top of a new shoe you have a coin's flip chance of losing your bet and are, as you know, playing at a 0.5% or thereabouts disadvantage.

It all depends, of course, on the finer points of how the promo is played.

Why don't you sit down and do some sums with a spreadsheet?

Basically they'll be five instances of this promo per evening. Look at the probabilities: you could play five, lose five. Or play five, win five. Or play five, win one, lose four (I'd ignore the instances of a push as you don't win or lose anything). And all of the combinations in between. You can work out what are the chances of being a net winner or loser, and based on that decide how much you're prepared to risk on these five hands as a %age of your bankroll. About an hour's work I reckon, or over a cup of coffee if you're really sharp using Excel.

Good idea, excel is no problem.

They just announce it randomly and the following hand on all blackjac table will have the same promo.

You might make one minor change to HiLo. For 16vTen, use an index of -1 if you're going for max EV. That's probably the only common index affected.

Splits are a more interesting problem. I don't know if you posted how they are handled. If you split, win one and lose one, do you end up winning or is it considered an overall tie?

Many thanks QFIT, as for you question is a very good one will find out. But am pretty sure they'd have to pay out the winner at 3:2.

Thanks for the tip on 16 vs 10!

Seeing the pay out is really nice. Should the index on spilting pairs should change?

For example:

99 vs 2
99 vs 7
1010 v 5
1010 v 6

44 v 4 ?

thanks
