preferential CSM shuffle ?

This is a theoretical scenario, I'm not suspecting any store pulling that of.

How large would be the house edge gain, if the dealer would be counting the game while dealing, and discards played cards into the discard tray only if the TC is negative, and refills the CSM (along with the discard) when the count returns to zero ?

For the innocent player this would not look very suspicious, it's just that the dealer does not refill the machine over and over again. Counting players would not even play the table.

this would be the equivalent of short shoeing.

considering that a 6:5 game has House edge of about 1.5%, id estimate that a short shoed CSM would have something like a 10% house edge

I assume you did mean a CSM(Continuous Shuffle Machine) vs an ASM(Automatic Shuffle Machine). I can't think of a single reason to ever play a CSM game. I view a CSM game like a 6:5 game. It is to be avoided at all costs. If someone can think of a reason to play a CSM I would certainly appreciate the education. Thanks.

DOn't think it would make much of a difference. After all, they may wait a few rounds, maybe one deck max, to reinsert the cards. How often do you see a count rise that early?

I once played a promo that gave cash back to the tune of an EV of +1.5%, which includes the house edge of ~0.5% playing BS. The only games available at this casino were CSM games. So, I played it. It did feel kind of weird, like being naked ;)
