If that's what you think, obviously you haven't read many of the posts here. I encourage you to look around and discover all of the other ways to beat the game, most of which are much stronger than straight card counting.
Just think - if you had spent the last 20 years learning about these legitimate strategies instead of tweaking a system that has obvious failures, you would be one of the best players on this website.

My friend is becoming a slot junkie. He knows the odds are stacked against him. But yesterday he hit a $3,852.00 jackpot on a penny machine (betting $3.20) so I'm sure he will continue even more dedicated than before. In this vein, I am sorry for your success at progression betting.
Of course, my friend's EF (expected fate) is much more ominous than yours; you are probably playing a near break-even game with perfect basic strategy, so a conservative progression will be close to a break-even process over the long run, although it will tend to magnify the house edge.
Still, you have wasted a ton of time, as Sonny suggested, that could have been put toward learning a true advantage game. I know I sound like a know-it-all, and I guess you do, too, but I have mathematics to back me up, not anecdotal evidence, although there is plenty of that to go around, too.

I agree with you, I do not keep an accurate track of my winnings/losses, but I remember mostly my losses because I hate leaving good money behind. My lifetime winnings are only in the four digits, hardly revenue if you divide the sum by all my years of play. My best winnings were made online, but I quit that because 1) my darling wanted to withdraw (and maybe go shopping :laugh
2) there is an amount of stress playing a real money game and I was developing an obsessive-compulsive behaviour (you know, playing till 4am...), it's too easy playing from your living room. I may take it up someday again, I know the Québec lottery commission will be online real soon, I may have a look at the playing conditions and see...

I haven't wasted any time, because I love the game of blackjack and I play almost every day (mostly on Casino Vérité). Ok, I know I will never get rich nor earn my living playing, and quite frankly, I'm not that interested in making money off blackjack (but I certainly don't want to leave much money behind either), I simply play for the love of the game. Ever since my older brother showed me how to play vingt-et-un (21) I was interested. Every now and then I spend some time brewing up a new progression (it's an intellectual pass-time).
Counting, I know the principal, but honestly, I do not have what it takes to count (I'm ADHD and lack the discipline and memory) and I'm also afraid it would take the fun out of the game.
Question for counters: do you still have fun at the table? Maybe I'm wrong.
I will read the posts Sonny suggested because I'm not closed minded and I have an interest.

One thing you might consider: when you have losing days, and you will have losing days, it is consoling if you followed mathematics that are proven to result in long run gains, rather than progressions that mathematically can be shown to magnify the house edge and and result in losses over the long run.

Would like to know your progression, I use $10.$15.$20.$25, and stay on $25 until I lose, and then revert back to $10; as I do not count cards, I have to assume that when I get a winning hand the run will continue, sometimes it does, and then sometime it don't.

For the 6-deck shoe game I play (assuming 100 rounds/hour):
If I use your progression, my hourly win rate will be -$3.98;
If I bet $10 all the time, my hourly win rate will be -$3.17.
Do you have another progression I can try that at lease will make me lose less than flat betting? Please PM to me if you prefer. Thanks.

What do you base that assumption on? If you play perfect BS you have about a 43% chance of winning the next hand, the same odds you have of winning any hand in any situation. Progression=Fail

I think you're selling yourself short, or perhaps just making a convenient excuse for not taking up counting. Obviously you've devoted a lot of time and energy into devising new progressions and in answering posts on this forum, so I'm not buying your ADHD excuse. Counting is not that difficult. It does take some focus, but that shouldn't be a problem for someone who loves the game so much that he claims he's become obsessive-compulsive. And if indeed you are obsessive-compulsive you'd better have every advantage you can get your hands on. Being obsessive-compulsive at a negative EV game cannot be a good thing.
I too have ADD issues and I too am obsessive-compulsive. I've spent upwards of 36 hours straight at the tables before, with only timeouts for eating and a few short naps. ADD and/or ADHD shouldn't be a problem for you because it's something you love so much and you can actually use your obsessive-compulsive behavior to help you focus. Take that negative behavior trait and turn it into a positive!

sorry, I cannot help you with another progression, although there are several, john patrick, donald dahl, charles einstein; all had different veiws in the subject, I found that the one I follow, is simple and works, there is also martingale, labouchere, reverse labouchere, parlay, fibonacci, paroli, alembert, and flat betting.

I use the assumption that if I win a hand then there is a 50/50 chance of the next hand being a winner, and it is only a trigger that I use to give me an indication of what to do next, it removes the confusion of guessing.as I have said before card counters also use progression, if you increase your bet when winning and decrease your bet when losing you are using a progression betting system; the way you determine what action you do, is called a strategy, either card counting or otherwise, progression does not = failure , most failures occur because cards do not fall always the way we would like them to, and also there is a constant mode of thinking that I do not understand ; why is there this morbid depressive attitude, that clouds all attempts at winning will end in failure, this is a very bad energy and thought pattern to bring to the table, you are already beaten before you even begin to play;

Notwithstanding the insurance bet, if you only flat bet and count the cards, there is no money to be made. So counting alone doesn’t make money; your bet spread (i.e. your progression) must be coordinated to the count. So it seems fair to say that progression’s alone, counting alone, or simply flat betting is insufficient to win, but if I had to choose between flat betting and progressive betting, I’d choose the latter anytime. I’ll die kicking!
