Pure Luck of the Draw

I have been playing no limit texas hold em and blackjack for quite sometime now and im beginning to come to a realization. as well as i play, i can not seem to win in the long run. it always seems that my dominant hands in poker find insane ways to lose and when i wong or play to a plus count i seem to break even for the session, or worse bust out completely. now i understand the theory that in the long run the best hand will win or a positive count will produce results. however its almost 2 years now and there is no results. I have come to 2 theories. A. God Hates Me or B. Its all luck. i like b. no matter what you do, you cannot control the outcome of the cards. ive wonged to a count or 23, sat down, and the fat drunk tourist makes a killing while i sit there and get raped for all my money. i play poker for hours, get a decent read on the table, go in with the best hand and just take an attrocious beat. its all luck of the draw. i might as well build my bankroll up again and play roulette. im really starting to beleive it is the same odds. does anyone share the same experience as me or am i just embittered after years of losing

i feel for you phatginny. how i understand ROR (ie. risk of ruin) is that the gambler can set himself up with some ROR that he'll be gambling at. lets say we choose a ROR = 13% . so what does that mean? it means that if you have one hundred people using the same exact strategy and each of them is playing with a ROR of thirteen percent that when those one hundred players reach the long run that thirteen of them will lose everything.
so there in is the gamble for even the advantage player.

so thats what it is. i have to be degraded by a man who has been banned from this site for being a complete idiot. i mean there is proof here in a previous post that the man obviously has no idea how to play poker and i cant imagine him being any good at blackjack. and maybe i am complaining about years of atrocious losses but i am definatly not a ploppy. ...so for renegade.... kiss my sac.

I'm sorry to hear about your unproductive years of gambling phfatginny. We've all had some bad beats in our days. Just look through the other posts here and you'll find all sorts of horror stories. I know that phfatginny is depressed about losing, but that is the attitude of a ploppy. We all know how bad it can feel when you are Wonging into great counts all night just to lose it all, but an AP will know what kind of variance to expect and will be prepared for it. I am more than happy to discuss variance, SD, ROR, etc. but the original post didn't seem to be asking about that.

In the interest of fairness, perhaps phfatginny could tell us more about his/her system, what kind of games s/he plays, etc. That would give us a common point to start a discussion from and might open up the floor to suggestions and advice.

i appreciate everyones kind words. however, renegade i will be at ceasars in AC this weekend on a batchelor party. why dont u meet me down there, ill kick your fucking ass, and then u can post a TRUE,LOGICAL post about how you or "your friend" got beaten and left for dead on the beach.

i dont even know why im responding to this moron but i feel i have to. i mean heres a guy who probably gets drunk and sits here and runs off at his mouth. i mean were on a blackjack forum and this guy is posting about the mets. if hes from the metropolitan area he would have known that they are the equivalent of the yankees farm system. thats how much anyone outside of queens gives a shit about them. as far as gambling, this is probably a guy who has some skill and sits on low limit online tables and takes advantage of inferior players. however if and when he ups the stakes he gets raped. see prestons post. as far as blackjack, he probably belives the lies he spews from his mouth, and tryes to wong and miscounts because hes afraid of the non existant pitboss trying to beat him up. i mean this guy is a fuckin clown

i gotta say that there is a lot of truth to what you're saying here. i recently played an online casino where i wagered $170,000 @ $25/hand. now after that kind of wagering, you would clearly expect to be close to your expectation. however my account went up by 2k (approx. 2.8k above expectation). now that kind of deviation is what gambling is about. At the end of a counting trip, the difference between a winning session and a losing session often comes down to a single big bet, a coin toss. and yes, we have the advantage, but to realize it, you need to play for a verrrry long time. And the smaller the advantage you have, the longer you need to play to realize it. Good luck with your gambling career, and remember that the math always works out, and anyone who thinks otherwise is inexperienced.
