The stories my Wife's uncle told about the old days in Vegas! He came here in 1946. His tales would leave you spellbound. But it is over-glamorized; we don't need any more holes in the desert. And back-rooming was no fairy tale.

The Sahara (recent incarnation) and Lady LucK were about as far from old vegas as you can get.

When I first started working in vegas the Dunes was still open, so was the Sands, San Remo, Hacienda, Holiday Inn, Desert Inn, Old Aladdin, Maxim, ect. Even the old Landmark was still standing (it had been closed for over a decade). My the town has changed.

Even through the latter 80s most of them still had great games. zg

You forgot the Stardust. Was there an Old Aladdin, or do you mean, the Aladdin. Used to be my favorite hotel and casino, until ph got hold of it, but it took Caesar's to really flush it down the toilet.

Planet Hollywood was the New Aladdin, which opened in 1998. Old Aladdin was imploded that year.

Ahhh, the stardust...Great sportsbook and Wayne Newton had a steady gig in their showroom...And perhaps I stand corrected...THE Aladdin, How bout the El Rancho, the Frontier, The sport of kings, and partying at the Beach before the casinos had dance clubs...

How about this name from the past-------the "Castaways". I went broke there in 1975. Didn't have a clue what AP meant and I was drowning my sorrows from ending a relationship with a longtime girlfriend (recipe for disaster)!!!!!
