In poker how long does a player have to show his hand before it is considered a slow roll ? I had a friend that is 70 yrs old get threatened with a ass whupping for not showing his hand fast enough . The guy was in his 20s.
 
Depends on who your slow rolling. I'd slowroll a 20 yr old every dam time if he acted like that. Yes I have done that....such satisfaction when you have a d7ck at the table....At 70 and looking quite feeble......he has all the time in the world. 70 andsharp ,not a fish,,,he'd best not be playin those kinda games.

One time, I had a real asshat on my table. I he went all in, and when the river came out, he showed his hand. I asked how much his all-in bet was, paid his bet while hanging onto my cards, and then flipped over the nuts when he thought he had won the pot.

It was awesome, when he flipped his cards over he was like "I told you I was gonna bust your ass!"
 
Hmm is slow rolling worse than when I went all in with absolutely nothing and then showed my crappy 7,4 offsuit from bb position? (I knew the player didn't have better than a pair.) He totally flipped out and it was a beautiful thing because from that moment on, he was on tilt and I crushed him.

This is a slowroll, taking time to call is not. And yeah, not that I'm old, but the youngsters don't understand what a mind game poker is so sometimes this is warranted.

Oh, it was totally warranted. He was a little gangster piece of **** hoodlum. Blew the rest of his $10k+ bankroll within a month.

Sometimes. But if you piss off certain players, they will go nuts.

Also, this wasn't so much of an EV decision, as a moral one. This guy deserved to get slowrolled.
 
Just my 2cents..

I have played poker for over 13 years and have never slow rolled anyone. No matter how much of a douche the other person was. For me as a poker player, my reputation is important. I play a mid-level stake game (5/5NL -10/20NL) and often times play with the same faces day in day out. If one of the looser regulars sees me mocking another player by slow rolling them, they might not be apt to give me action just because of the way I act. No one likes poor sports. Unlikable players are generally unwelcome at the table and become a mark often times.

But for all the up and comers. Just remember.. your reputation is everything.

Excellent point hardnock. Your reputation in your local joints is valuable.. Now on a road trip to stores you won't be visiting a lot, then slowroll if it's warranted...

yeah and they'll get pissed off and probably quit playing. if not today, then maybe tomorrow. or maybe just at that location. or maybe only at tables with you. just don't do it.
 
You have the right to see every losing hand at any casino. I saw someone who never played live before Black Friday ask to see every losing hand since he was used to seeing it online. He didn't realize it was bad etiquette to do it live. He also accidentally flipped over his folded cards many times and always showed his winning and losing hands.
 
The reason why there is a rule that allows players to see a losing hand is to prevent collusion. It is not in place to pickup reads or to find out what kind of strategy a player is employing. This is widely known among the experienced poker players. Almost every time I've seen the rule used by someone at the table, it's to get a read on the player.. for example what kind of hand the losing player will call with or if the player is bluffing on a missed draw etc. Just a note to all.. it's usually bad manners to ask to see a losing players hand for this reason. Also if the winning player asks to see the hand (very very rare) then the face down hand becomes live and is awarded the pot. Another reason why I never ask. The hand is dead, however, if someone else at the table asks to see it....

Just a heads up for those who didn't know..
