Slowing down play ??

#1
On my third try at blackjack in a casino the play seemed to be going to fast.
Four players at the table and the game was being played at lightning speed.

The game was a 6 deck shoe and the dealer seemed very experienced.
As i was reaching for my strategy card she was waiting to give me a card.
I would make the play and look at the card after the hand.
I only made one mistake.

Now, is there a way to slow the play down ?? I seem to enjoy the game more when the game is played at a slower pace.

Thanks, John:)

Sure, you can take all the time you want in making decisions. But, probably the best action would be simply to request that they slow down because of your inexperience. They are usually accomodating, especially at the lower limit tables.

Make a bet for the dealer and ask them to slow it down. Believe me they will be glad to.

TedLoc,

Bribing the dealer by making a bet for them then asking them to slow the game down just makes your negative EV worse, why not just ask them to slow down first and if they don't leave the table. I'm sure it's not the only table in town.

You may feel rushed when the dealer is there waiting to give you a card but you really aren't. You can take your time, most people don't care as long as you aren't ridiculous about it. It's not like they can't pick up and move to another table if your slower play is really so irritating to them.

For me, I like the table to move as fast as humanly possible because the more hands I get the more money I make with my slow earning play style. The perfect table is one with a fast dealer and only me sitting at it. But I rarely get that and when the table slows down for beginners I try and look at it as a break and take the time to socialize with the other players, even give advice if they're interested. Keeps things from getting tedious don't ya know.

One thing i cant stand are those **** side games on blackjack

do yours casinos have these?

all these time is spent betting on them and then calculating payouts and all that crap its so annoying... and people seem to spend time before each hand "thinking which box is lucky" and putting chips in one box then taking it off and putting it elsewhere... and when the dealer is about to signal no more bets.. there still putting chips on differnt boxes.
I cant stand it.. it chews up so much time and really takes the focus off the hands being dealt.

like those side games where u win if u get "perfect pairs " or "7's" or what ever else they have.

I think the big side game in Kansas City is 21+3. It's blackjack but with a side bet that uses the first two cards you are dealt plus the dealer's up-card. If those three cards make a hand (trips, straight or flush) then the payout is 9:1. There are a lot of players there who bet more on the side than they do on the hand. You seldom see them come out ahead after a session.
