Not BS. Actually I posted the same story about one week ago because I think it is quite entertaining. Initially stunned by the pit boss' honesty, the guy almost choked then he said, "Oh, my mom and I share the same card. She only play slot machine. And I always forgot to give my card to the dealer." He really made it even worse as pit boss checked the computer, then said "The computer said you rejected being rated." Since I sat on the third base. I took a peek on the computer screen. The computer did display "The player rejected being rated." In a well managed computerized casino, the pit boss key in such data at the same time he key in your buy-in amount. So don't try to outsmart them because it will make you more suspicious to be an AP.
Hmmm............007 was a ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,SPY,,,,,,,,.....

I think you should flat bet $50 or $100 at Caesar's for two hours a day, then at least they can have free room when you visit LV.
VP is another way to keep your room comps coming.

By the way, for people having not seen the touch screen on the side of the table, a big portion are player information. Under player 1 to player 7, each entry is either player's name or "player refused to be rated".

This is an interesting topic. Both sides of the playing rated for comps/unrated no-comps debate seem to have similar numbers and good points. Recently I have been playing more unrated. I am worried about showing too many wins on my card and getting kicked out. I guess each situation is different. Do you have any tips besides rat-holing to avoid this? At my local spot I am usually the only person playing green (all others play red only) so it seems pretty obvious when I leave with extra greens. I have been thinking of taking friends and passing them chips while buying in a lot to show some losses. Casinos do look into consistent winners right? If you play mostly carnival games does it matter if you are a consistent winner as much as blackjack?
You can rathole if you're the only one betting a certain denomination. I do it all the time. Just depends on whether the floor is smart enough to add it back to your card. Often they don't.

Another option is to have your companion come along and take chips, without mentioning it to the floor. Not suspicious if the eye sees it.

But, overall, I think everyone should learn to rathole. And by rathole, I mean learn to palm a chip so that it is not visible to a camera from above, or at most angles of a pan and sweep camera.

I make it a habit of having a handful of chips-- I play with them, stack them, hold them, change hands, rearrange my stacks-- making it easy to reach a handful of chips into my pocket for a handkerchief, cell phone check, or nose inhaler, chapstick, fingernail clipper, comb, kruggerand, or whatever. If there are chips in my other hand, it's near impossible for anyone to follow. It doesn't take a magician to pull this off successfully.

The other method is to simply put a stack in your pocket with no attempt to hide it, other than choosing a time when the pit guy is not paying attention. This will not look suspicious to anyone observing, since many ploppies do it for money management purposes, hoping to keep these winnings out of play.

The simple method: Put all your chips in your pocket when you go to the bafroom. Take all the chips out of that pocket when you come back from the bafroom. There are no cameras in the bafroom. That's all you need to know!

Yup. I do that, too.

There are so many ways, you just do whatever is convenient at the time. The only thing is, don't forget to do it, as I have done on more than one occasion. I'd hate to develop a winning record, rated or unrated!

I agree with Moo on his OP and on the Rat-holing addition. Comps have played a HUGE part in my Blackjack career so far and even though I have been kicked out of a few larger chains, I just came back with a new ID and all the comps came right back.

Since my back-offs I have learned to play smarter so I don't stand out as much while still maximizing comps.

On a side note though, I have lots of Harrah's points and if I were to lose those that would be just terrible! (Harrah's is a chain I still use my real name)
