Speed Count

Speed Count is an ultra simple counting system, and as such is considered by many here to be inferior to the also-simple KO system. I'm on the fence on this one. I understand the critics point of view, but I also wonder if there are some people for whom the Speed Count may indeed by "easier" than KO. There's no doubt that it is a weaker system than KO, and certainly both are weaker than Hi-Lo. For details, you may want to search for OPP count, as it and the Speed Count are based on the same idea.
 
There's a lot of furor over the published performance of the Speed Count. My own simulator cannot test it in its exact form, since Speed Count "assumes" the number of cards played. The best I can offer is my educated impression of its potential after running several sims with homemade systems that together, "surround" Speed Count's structural parameters.

It looks as if Speed Count's raw EV would have to fall somewhere around two thirds that of Hi/Lo. That of course would push its SCORE lower than two thirds Hi/Lo. I think Norm could offer further insight on this.
 
Speed Count has about 35% the SCORE of KO. It has about half the SCORE of KO Rookie which has no indexes and no Insurance. The claims made in ads are vastly exaggerated.
 
So, to make sure I have my definitions of EV and SCORE are correct, if the EV is 2/3 of a real counting system, but the SCORE is super-low, that would mean that speed count accomplishes a positive expectation at the expense of war-crime levels of risk?

Essentially. SCORE fixes risk. And, unlike EV it factors in risk. But, Speed Count doesn't have 2/3 the EV of a real counting system to start with.
 
I wonder if the classic Unbalanced 10's count would be just as easy as the OPP or Speed counts for some people, and at the same time a decent count.
