Strip Casinos SUCK

For a newb counter at least...

Terrible terrible pen, terrible rules, 6:5 payouts, single deck shuffles after 2 hands. Casinos:

PH
Mirage--- played double deck with 40-50% pen.
Caesars
Luxor
Bellagio- 6 deck terrible pen

If I stated the obvious, I apologize.. This crap almost ruined my trip as I pretty much didn't even play.

Also, what is up with these dealers?? They're either weird, slow, or foreign. Most of the time a combination of all 3. I couldn't stand how slow they would deal, every casino except bellagio had terribly slow dealers. I was starting to fall asleep at the mirage at one point.

I figured but of course I came with friends who despise casinos more than anyone else on earth. Getting them to even walk through one was a mission, let alone getting them off the strip.

I was using a hi-lo method. One a single deck after the first hand with 2 players + the dealer the count was extremely high (+9). I bet big the next hand and I got a blackjack, the other player and dealer both had 20's. After that hand it was shuffle time~~ and that was the highlight of my playing over 3 days.

What are the table minimums your playing at? Some of the casinos on your list have marginal games at best. Don't know why you bother playing them. And unless the games have changed that much since I was on the strip 4 weeks ago.(which I doubt has happend) The penetration levels are better at both casinos than what your stating. If you don't like how slow the dealer is just change tables/casinos.

So you played 6:5 Blackjack?
Not sure were the single deck game is on the strip that pays 3:2

I think there are playable games on the strip, even at the places you are mentioning, you just might have to pay more for a good game (higher minimum).

Also if you are trying to play SD/DD, you probably need to look for tables without too many players. If the table is full, you will only get a couple hands before a shuffle. If its heads up, you'll get a lot more.

Don't play 6:5!

I don't know, I play 4 of the 5 stores mentioned regularly. At least twice weekly. Conditions vary, even in the same casino, by shift, pit, table or even dealer. You gotta shop around. It is true that there are many more playable games at the $25 and above limits, but decent conditions can still be found if you look at lower limits, especially during off hours.

It seems like your problem may be that you are looking fo a deeply dealt single deck game with 3-2 payout and good rules. Try looking in the 1980's.

How did you get from PH to Luxor? You skipped right past the locations at the lower end of strip on both sides of the street, that do have good games.

Strip casinos are definitely not known for their SD games and anyone expecting that would be very disappointed. However they do have some pretty solid shoe games in most of the properties you mentioned as most of the other guys on here have said to.

In regards to slow dealers, that didn't really jump out at me. I think you need to do some more scouting for pen/speed before sitting down to play.

The official list

Save yourself a little hoofing about town and get the most current listing of blackjack games, rules, no. of tables, etc. to avoid walking into casinos for no apparent good reason is the way to go. Some casinos have a wide variety of blackjack games and rule variations under the same roof also, meaning you have to really look around for the better games.

I've made trips to Vegas in which I didn't have this information and ended up walking right back out of lots of the casinos I walked into in recent years. Way back when there was no such thing as autoshufflers/8 decks/H17/6:5 and all the garbage they try to rip people off with these days.

I just arrivend on the strip yesterday. They have the best pen I have seen on there dd. Jusy have to play the higher limits. Vegas takes action well compared to my hometown casinos. Love it.

For a low roller like me, $25-100 a hand is a fairly high price to pay for a decent strip game when I can play good games downtown. Not everyone who is smart enough to seek a decent game is loaded with dough, and I frequent stores where they respect the little guy. I'm not ashamed of being just a working man living on a working man's paycheck. It'd be great to have 3-4 grand for a session, and if you do that's great, but I don't. I like full pay VP when taking a break from the tables and good luck finding that on the strip, either.

I play some at a 6 deck bad pen S17 no surrender game at an Indian casino that has $5 min. Last month I bought in for 200. and turned that into 450. in 45 min. I was socking away chips and didn't push my luck by sticking around long. I truly love Vegas though. The comps at the local joints suck, too...and there's no fullpay VP and the only VP is a buck min with just two machines.

I'm just wondering. What games downtown you play that are so good? I'm well into my second decade of playing Vegas games and generaly speaking downtown right now has the worst games I've ever seen.

P.S. You can P.M. if you don't want to reveal these gems to the entire board.

Binion's had a 3:2 SD game with a doubling restriction and a $10 min. El Cortez has great DD and SD with very low mins. Fitzgerald's has a decent DD game with a $10 min and a 6D game with a $5 min. Fremont has a playable DD game with a $10 min. Mainstreet Station has a DD game at $5. Vegas Club has a 6D game at $5 that has decent rules. Golden Gate has a 6D game at $5 with playable rules and the Golden Nugget has an acceptable DD game at $10.

Well guys I am giving it another shot memorial day weekend. I will be looking for more expensive tables as mentioned.

I will fill you guys in on how I do.

As for the tucson question.. I play at indian casinos in the PHX area (the 2 sister casinos that are about 3-4 highway exits apart). One is a resort/casino and the other is straight casino. The straight casino is easy to play at, i feel no heat. The resort one they watch you a little more.
