O.K., if late surrender is available on a 6 deck shoe game wherein the casino hits a soft 17 I think I'm supposed to surrender if my first two cards are 8/8 vs dealers 9,10, or Ace-am I right? In other words treat the hand just like any other 16.

Use the BS generator here and let us know, because I forget but I think you're incorrect. 88 is NOT like any 16. zg

I thought u'd only surrender 8,8 vs the Ace. Whether there's DAS or not.

Could very well be wrong since the last time I played late surrender was a LONG time ago lol.

in H17, LS you surrender 8,8 v A always.
and you surrender v T when the count is roughly +1
There are a few rule combinations where you don't surrender 88 vs. A, like in SD where you do surrender 77 vs A!

It's also going to make some difference whether or not you can double after split.

Can someone post the late surrender indexes for SD & DD (H17)? Thanx.
17 (hard of course) vs A

8 9 10 A
16 4 0 -2 -4
8/8 - 7 1 4 or less
15 7 2 0 0
14 - 6 3 4
13 - - 8 -

They are all the posted number or higher except for 8/8 vs Ace, which is less than +4 you surrender.

Hope this helps.
