Expensive compared to where? Try southern California living!
I'm so happy to see another woman on here! I can't seem to find other females that are also card counters/AP's. I was told there was one on here but I didn't know if you were still a member and I didn't want to bother you.

I've met several in casinos. They are out there; just not active on the forums.

I wonder why that is? When I found all the forums, I skimmed through a few threads from each forum, I noticed some forums were moderated better than others, on some, the people were just insulting each other, talking about crazy things (it seemed to me). There were also a couple, that looked like they had members giving good advice, and those members were knowledgeable, so I joined those. I want to learn as much as possible, from the people who have the experience, and are willing to help the new people. What would be your estimate, on how many female counters/ AP's there are, in just the US?

My estimate of female BJ AP/counters in the US?
Probably less than 100.
Are you an AP BJ counter?

So you gotta define what we are talking about when we ask how many card counters or female card counters there are.

I'll break my guess and that's all it is, down this way. Recreational, hobbyist's weekend warrior type probably with a job, I have no idea, probably a lot....like hundreds or a thousand across the country. How much of a winning game they are playing varies. With all the locations probably a good number that go out to their local casino less than an hour from home, a couple times a month and probably a significant number are female.

You get into the supplemental group, often retired supplementing retirement income, sometimes supplementing a job or career or they consider AP a second career and would guess maybe 100, maybe 150 with all the locations available now and 90% male.

The serious or professional type players, I am going to guess under 50 and if you are talking exclusively blackjack card counter, I may be it. :D Ok, maybe 10-12. And almost all these are male. That is why I have said a number of times, I think a female has a built in advantage.

Ok, now back to the original discussion of this thread. "Living in Vegas, as a tourist". That is one of them there, oxymorons, no? What are we talking extended tourist of several months? In think in this regard Vegas has a budget for just about everyone. That is what those weekly/monthly places are designed for. Not what they end up being used for, but what they were designed for.

Takes me back about 13 years before I moved to Vegas. I wanted to spend a month. At that time I was still playing low stakes and building my BR, so I was looking to go cheap. I was in my early to mid 20's. I stayed at a rooming house named Ogden House. This is not to be confused with the highrise Ogden although it was a block away. The Ogden house is the building that is now Cabana suites of El Cortez and although I haven't stayed at Cabana suites, I am pretty sure they upgraded considerably. :D If I remember they practically gutted the building, so I am sure there would be no resemblance to the place I stayed. I am talking rooming house! The room had a bed. No TV, no bathroom. Shared bathroom in the hall.

Now that was obviously bottom of the barrel, but I still think there is options to meet just about every budget, even today.

And I sometimes think it might have been fun as a young card counter, to live "on the road" in Vegas for a year. Spreading out away from strip, between downtown, to the local places, you could probably still get comped rooms at least Sun-Thurs, playing fairly low stakes, maybe add in a little video poker. Could probably get comped rooms on Fridays too at the lower limit (and end) places. Not the same places every week, you would need a rotation. 2-3 nights a month at 10 places.

That would leave you Saturdays. Comped rooms on a Saturday is going to require significant stakes. But maybe you could score some reduced rates at lower end places...$29, $39. I'll bet you could keep your out of pocket expense for rooms down to under $150/month. Or you could go even more extreme and just stay up all night Saturday night check in as early as possible Sunday and catch a nap.

You would need a car for travel to the out of the way local places as well as a place to keep your belongings. Like I said, I can see this appealing to an up and coming AP in their early to mid 20's. I was too scared to attempt it. Being homeless for 3 months in high school, kind of scarred me. I like to know I have a "place", a home base, to retreat to and regroup.

Hey KewlJ... how's are the cards falling at EC lately? They still bunching up the 10s... any signs of foul shuffling procedures or ASMs?
El Cortez has been closed for 10 weeks.

Now what is this about bunching 10's and ASMs? Not familiar...tell me more?

Oh no, not the "ASM machines are set to beast mode/clumping intentionally" discussion rearing its ugly head again.

Oh, I remember. Seems like you are trying to stir the pot.

The situation at the establishment mentioned was 2 years ago. The situation at that location resolved itself at that time, when they pulled the particular machines (there were only 2 machines in question) within two weeks after I had made mention of it and discussion spread to several forums. There have been no further issues at that location.

No just wondering how things are up that way lately... haven't been there in years. I"m stuck in Southern California and these Indian Casinos clump the s**t outta the cards... common down to Pala or Harrahs and try to beat that two deck game... ;)

She is cute; young and she specifically does NOT count cards...........LOL And she know someone at EC that lets her film and play, though she has branched out a little to The Plaza. She is entertainment oriented; not AP by any means.

As to female counters, in my experience, they are limited. But they do exist. As to posting on forum, I know one very knowledgeable player that does not want to give away her gender. So you may not always know who is posting. Her posts will be gender neutral for sure.
