The fun of the beginning stages of a (hopefully) career

I want to play blackjack as a hobby for the rest of my life. I have decided not to attempt to "get rich" but I want to make, eventually, $20/hr enjoying myself with this hobby.

But, as I am at the beginning of my career, I am getting my ARSE kicked in the high count on my blackjacks vs dealer's blackjacks. I wish we could watch a video of all my high count, high betting black jacks versus the dealer...and that we could all laugh together as we watch it!!! LOL

I've been counting now since Feb 2019. I played 650 hours only to basically break even (lost $300)...but, admitting, I was not pushing my bet as much as I should...good learning experience...and some free vacations that I probably now will not get to use due to Covid.

Well, this year, as I am doing my $10, $20, $50, $100...since I am betting the correct amounts, I know my swings both ways will be higher.

Started out down $1,000. Lost another $500 a couple sessions ago. But, yesterday, I had a $50 bet out, got my 6,5 (in a+3 true count)...and go ta 2 card with it when I doubled...dealer showed a 7, and got his 17.

Next hand, count goes up to +4....I did (2) hands of $100 (even though, I was suppose to do 2 hands of $50)....I get (2) tens on my first hand, and I get a pair of twos on the other hand...dealer shows a 10 card in the hole...then checks...and...BLACK JACK!!! FUN FUN!! Story of my life.

Last year, I had (1) shoe where the dealer had (3) blackjacks...but I was able to buy insurance on all 3 luckily....and I had two different times where dealer had 7 blackjacks to my 2 blackjacks in the high counts.

I wish I had actual stats to show.....but dealer blackjacks to my blackjacks in the high counts in my 1.25 years of playing has been EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY one-sided.

I have yet to even have a 3 blackjacks to 1 small little run. It has been damn crazy. Oh well....just got to keep playing. I am in it for the long haul. Down $2,300 since I first ever started last February.

losing when the count is high sucks. But it has happened to everyone.

But if your game is tight then the math is on your side instead of the houses.

Humans are notorious for not remembering things correctly, though they will swear they do.
Do you keep some decent records of your session outcomes?
If you are truly playing with an edge, then the long-run shouldn't scare you as long as you have the BR.
How do you know you are playing and betting correctly now, as opposed to last year?

The long run doesn't scare me. Nothing does. I do look forward to positive results though. Who wouldn't?

Counting is Fun gave you good advice. If you don’t keep records you won’t know if your playing properly.

You can’t distinguish luck from skill with out records. Luck runs out. Skill doesn’t.

Keeping Records let’s all players know that there not fucking things up.
This applies to every player at every level.

KC that sounds like more an avocation than a hobby, though I know it's easier to drop by a casino in KC than most places. I hope you can chalk it up to variance. Even with Covid, I am having a positive year for a few trips to Vegas and relatively few sessions locally. But trying to pick it back up. However, variance will kill you sometimes. Without divulging raw numbers, I had a negative swing on just one trip, that was equivalent to 80% of my total positive gain for the year. Playing the same games, tables and rules. Variance DOES happen.

Finally...finally. Most of my early career, I have gotten my arse kicked on the blackjack battle....

...but, finally, last night...the only time I bet $100, I got the blackjack. Then, when I played 2 hands of $25, I got blackjack on both of them on the same deal!

Small victories. I only won $350 last night, but I needed something.

How do you expect to make any money playing BJ when your top bet is $100? Even playing great games...
You need to get some books and a bankroll.

Why are you so negative all the time? Give him advice v. just admonish him. If you have read his threads, like I know you have, then you know he is just starting. Maybe his "roll" is only $10k or less. Then a $100 bet isn't out of line or too small. How about passing along advice v. just criticism. Yes, you told him he needs to get books..............I believe he has some. Recommend what you think is best. He has a bankroll. It may not be as large as yours, but maybe recommendation on bet spread is appropriate v. some generic "get one". We all have to start somewhere and learn.

I did give him advice here...the best advice that I know of.
And because he has been asking the same things and making dumb posts since last year. A lot of us have already tried to give him good advice many times, a long time ago.

It’s good to hear you won. The best advice I can give you is buy computer software to see if your currently 100 percent accurate.

You can practice with your bank roll amount and bet spread. Do it for a few months. Once you know that your playing 100 percent accurate with the count you can then play for real money at casino.


Also more importantly you can get to a skill level we’re you do more advanced strategy’s when they present them selfs.

Yeah, I already play a perfect game and use Illustrious 18. I've been an advantage player since February of 2019.

Just had a bad streak going...finally broke it.
