The law regarding card counting in AC

In AC, if they suspect you of card counting, what are they legally allowed to do?
I know they can shuffle or decrease the penetration, but other than these two things, are they allowed to do anything else in AC?
 
All the above are correct. They can also give you different limits than anyone else at the table. For example, once I was at a 50/3000 table, and they pulled out a special sign just for me with 5/50 limits.
 
ROFLMAO. The worst I ever had happen to me was when I was in vegas and they decided to arbitrarily change the deck of cards, but that is just well cute. I gotta give them props for coming up with that.

LOL. That's pretty harsh. But they still let you spread 1-10. So did this sign have your name on it? "Sir, if you wouldn't mind, would you please where this sign whenever you come to our casino?" :laugh:

I just got up and left. I was considering telling the other players at the table what happened and say "you know what you should do when I raise my bet," but I refrained, so I could go back there in the future without standing out in anyone's memory.

Speaking of custom signs, Hollywood Dave posted a hilarious story on one of the other boards a while back. They actually hand wrote a sign changing all the rules, like no splits, no doubles, etc. That probably violated the Casino Control Commission regs, as any change other than what's above, has to be cleared through them.
 
Casino Counter-Measures

In the old days I had been limited to a 1-2 spread and frequently half-shoed (if I was not at a busy table).

But they still let you spread 1-10, however that is not advantageous when the penetration is poor, especially not with an 8 decker.
 
I was limited to play on one spot only. Half shoed as soon as I gave my player's card, if before shuffle. At one time, I was asked for the card right after shuffle. They ordered a re-shuffle after played only one round. Three other players at the table were very upset. But the floor didn't care. The floor usually whistle the instruction to the dealer or write on a piece a paper to change the penetration. I learned not to give my card any more there. It sucks that I wouldn't get the comps and points.

If I could start again fresh, I would stay away from the high roller pits. There are a lot more surveillance there. One time I got into a discussion with another player about stand or hit on 16 vs T. The pit boss got involved. He said hit unless you count the cards. That just showed they are knowledgeable. On the other hand, at lower limit tables, the story is totally different.
 
Blue, you don't need to get caught to play low stakes in AC. $5 tables now can be found pretty much in all the casinos except for Caesars and the Trump Properties to my knowledge.
 
$5 tables?

I play 20-25 hours a week in AC and usually at the slowest of times (weekday morning before the daytripper buses roll in and early evening) and rarely see a $5 table other than the sometimes 1 (one) $5 table at the borgata, Thunder. Can you share where all these $5 tables are??
 
They can be found at Showboat, Wild Wild West, Trump Marina, and maybe a few more but those are the ones I know of for sure. Granted they're all hit soft 17's and 8 decks.
 
I generally avoid the hit 17 games, unless the penetration is exceptional and for that reason avoid the Harrah's properties (hit 17) for the most part. It is good to know though. With a $5 table I could keep my top bet the same, yet dramatically increase my spread. That may make the hit 17 games playable for me. Also maybe it's yet another sign of how much AC is hurting. Maybe someday they will wise up and offer a decent game! (ok, they won't, but one can dream) :)
 
The Borgata is probably as good as it's going to get for AC BJ although I heard there is a particular casino who will (if they like you) offer surrender in the high roller room as well as 6 decks.

Tropicana sometimes have $5 tables, at the pit between South and West towers, close to Havana and parking garage. This pit doesn't always open during the weekdays. I think it opens up around 12 or 1pm. When it starts, and if the business is slow, you can see $5 tables. BTW, Trop's game still S17, slip up to 3 hands, and 8 decks. High roller with $100 minimum gets 6 deck and split to 4 hands. The pen is generally bad and getting worse there. 2 or 2.5 deck in average.
