So, here's the message jimbob PMed me. I'm making it public, because it's a hilarious read for the community--better than "Cats"! You can't make this stuff up! This is how upset the progressionists get when they are called out:

Personally, I thought the question was: Why is ExhibitCAA bothering to argue with progressionists? (Answer: Because I'm waiting on sims that are running in another window!)

Another question that came to mind: If Jimbob has written several thousand simulations, why does he need someone else to write a sim to figure out what happens in a shoe of OG?

When someone who is frankly posting delusional rubbish, gets called on it and then get hostile and abusive, they deserve no quarter or credit. Worse than that they know that they won't get away with posting such an attack in the open forum, so wanting to keep up the appearance of someone reasonable they send it in a PM assuming that the recipient won't make it public - someone like that not only doesn't deserve the protection of forum rules, they deserve the public exposure that this fool got.

A poster was trying to discuss Oscar's Grind. I told him that he should learn how to count and he should investigate the characteristics of poorly shuffled shoes to see if they are indeed exploitable by the betting scheme he was using. I didn't say that a progression was the holy grail as these **** heads are accusing me of. I didn't say that it was something that the poster should not do. I told him to learn to count and to run some simulations on the shuffle he faces to see if Oscar's Grind would work.

The Church of Smart Alecks Who Know Everything then started flaming me because I did not adhere to the official Church law of "progressions bad" and I did not call the poster a liar, idiot, retard, etc.

The head priest of the Church of Smart Alecks... then called me a liar and an idiot. I don't tolerate that kind of bullying so I told him to go **** himself. Now he is gathering allies in his flame war against me. I said he was a bully and he objected to that, but now he is gathering allies to help him bully me further. Hmmm, seems like bully behavior to me.

I noticed that the moderator censured me for standing up for myself but did not censure the bully for calling me a liar and an idiot.

Typical behavior in a forum where self appointed High Priests admonish the lay posters for not adhering to the official theocratic dictates.

I posted pretty much what was in that PM in the forum where the bully called me a liar so I'm not sure why he felt a need to post the PM. But, I don't really care.

Now he has bet me his entire bankroll that he knows more than I do about math, computer science, gaming, and I guess reading and writing too I'm not sure, his boast covered a large number of topics. I find it interesting that someone would make a boast like that against someone else that they know nothing about. But that is the way these self impressed types act. He is so impressed with himself that everyone else must be also.

The "dangerous error" is the promotion and attempted rationale of systems that are quite clearly and definitely losers.

If people are going to use this forum to make claims that bogus systems are really winners, then you have to expect that those of us who know what we're talking about (especially ExhibitCAA!) will respond with the well reasoned truth. If you don't like to hear it, that's your problem.

Frankly I couldn't care less if you guys go and lose a bundle using this progression nonsense. But for the sake of anyone who doesn't know better, and who would like to learn real ways of winning, I'm very happy to see your nonsense continually and soundly debunked.

Anyone who uses a progression system and expects to win is a fool. And anyone who doesn't think that math and simulations can prove it, is either ignorant or completely deluded.

You "stand up for" yourself with a tirade of name-calling and profanity on the board and through PM. On the other side of the coin, when "calling you a liar and an idiot," I would like to point out some age-old legal bedrock--"truth is an absolute defense of libel."

Your argument cuts both ways. Because the PM was largely redundant, why send it to me? Because it was somewhat redundant, and didn't particularly reveal any private information (such as the location of secret games), and was merely a spew of profanity, I didn't feel it very sensitive, but posting it had some entertainment value and shows everyone here the context in which I write my posts on the boards (note that I don't PM you at all).

Someone else that I know nothing about? Hardly. I can tell from many of your posts that you have no clue about what simulations mean, and that you are an exaggerator/liar (have you really written a simulator a week for the past 40 years, which is what it would take for you to have written "thousands of sims"). People like you are the most dangerous posters here. You claim to be a "statistician by trade" and thus unaware rookies might actually listen to you, when in fact your knowledge is questionable.

The curse of the Internet is that it gives everybody an equal footing to spout their messages. A progressionist loser can post messages with the same ease as a PROFESSIONAL gambler. It is up to the knowledgeable market to help weight the various voices on behalf of newbies. In that quest, I am far from the ideal representative. Others have taken on this duty with greater vigor and persistence over the years (Don Schlesinger) and greater tact (Sonny, Parker, DD, iCountNTrack, KenSmith, Ralph Stricker, etc.). But the cause is a noble one, and I try to participate from time to time, because I hate casinos.

In the case of chitown, I have a special interest, as I grew up on the Midwest riverboats, and they have had some of the best opportunities for players anywhere. I built my bankroll on those boats. When Hollywood Aurora was hand-dealing Caribbean Stud, why was I the only one there? When Empress had the *** game, why was I the only one there? When *** had the great shuffle, why was my partner the only one there? There is generally low heat and high action, enabling counters and other APs a solid opportunity to build a bankroll the right way. Resorting to progressions is a REALLY BAD IDEA.
