The right count system?

Hey all,

I just wanted some opinions from experienced players on a proper count system, I have been playing BS for about a year and a few months ago started to get interested in counting cards. I purchased blackjack bluebook 2 and also blackjack blueprint. In reading I decided to try to KISS count II. I practiced and once I felt comfortable with my ability and studying the indexes for play I decided to try it out. I had a few sessions over a day and a half period…maybe 10 hrs in all and was successful. I didn’t follow the betting progression to T, as I really just wanted to try the count out and see my progression and ability. I was pleased overall and decided to go ahead and learn the KISS count III. It shows a betting correlation of 96% and a playing of 55%. So my question is this system good enough? I do like the fact I do not have to judge the discard tray constantly but I am improving that skill also. Am I wasting time or money so I need to move to a count 2 or 3 system that is balanced? After reading around these forums seems most say to do whatever counts you are comfortable with and make the least errors. I like the KISS count and in the blackjack bluebook, the comparison table seems to show it as good as the K.O and Hi/Lo count. Also my background is I am only able to play maybe a two or three day session every two months due to work and other obligations. I am a recreational player but do like the challenge to win. A, if I am going to play I might as well have the advantage. I am about 2 hrs away from a few casinos otherwise Vegas is my best bet. Sorry for the long post and appreciate the feedback.

The right count system is the one that you are comfortable with.

Forget about higher level count if your primary game is 6D and you're a recreational player.

Try the fingers and toe method. I hear it is very effective.

Yes, it is good enough. I have been using KISS III for some time with success, although now I am using Hi Lo. If you are playing shoe games 4 to 8 deck games, you don't really need 2nd or 3rd level counts unless you like to torture yourself :whip:.

I have tried most of the counting system, but here are the ones I tried and liked the most by category:

Unbalanced: KISS III or Unbalanced Zen 2
Balanced: Hi Lo or Wong Halves

What I really use:
Unbalanced: Unbalanced Zen 2 for pitch games
Balanced: Hi Lo for shoe games

For future reference, it can be difficult to read large blocks of text on a computer. So this would be easier to read if you broke it into 3 or 4 paragraphs.

As far as counting systems, if you are playing shoe games, I would recommend Hi-Lo simply because there is so much literature on it, and it is quite easy to use. Red 7, KO, and Zen are also commonly used, effective counts.

If you want to play pitch, and are willing to work harder for an extra 5-10% of an edge, I would recommend Hi-Opt 2.

Single or double deck game that is dealt not using a shoe. Dealer holds cards in hands and "pitches" (deals) the cards to the players.

Must add: "and the cards are dealt face-down, then the players pick up their cards and scratch on the table for a hit, but tuck their cards underneath their chips to stand". That's what makes the game "pitch". Note that there are an increasing number of double deck games that are dealt face-up, where the players do not touch the cards. I might also add that it's very easy to be "made" as a counter in face-up double deck games.

hello gigantore-

i have been using kiss III for some years and it works like a swiss watch-period.
more difficult counts not worth it ,period.

Thanks for the feedback. It'll be another month or so before I have a chance to try it out but I am still practicing and depending on my skill, I might eventually try to learn a level two. Try to keep up wth the challenge:)
