Time in the casinos

#1
I ran across an indicator of just how much time I spend in casinos the other day. There I was at the kitchen sink at home going to wash my hands. I applied some soap and put my hands under the faucet. The faucet was broken! I moved my hands about to try to get it to kick on but it wouldn't work... then I realized, "That's right! You have to turn a faucet handle for the water to come on here!"

Go to a Gambler's Anonymous meeting and ask everyone how many hours they spent in a casino per week. You might be shocked that you spend more time than gambling addicts.

No surprise. If they attend those meetings they know they are addicted, and hence playing for much more longer times to the amount that it had ruined their lives already. At this stage, I doubt there is much money left they could spend for many hours.

I've been on the road for 2 months now. When I DO go home; I'll probably be backroomed by the dog!
Good god man!!! Seriously 2 months....? I find that very hard to do anymore,,,3 weeks tops for me,,,,unless of course the "job" calls for it.
Sometimes I wake up in bed at home and have to think for a bit as to where I'm at.
Here's to hoping its been a good 2 months:grin:

I believe there's such a thing as AP addiction.
Time to start a AP Anonymous group. "Hi, my name is Bob and I'm an APaholic. AP has ruined my life. I have so much cash under my mattress, my bed is now all lopsided and uneven and uncomfortable, I haven't got a good night's sleep for months!"

There already IS such a group. It's called "Workaholics Anonymous", and comes complete with a 12-step program. But I'm not quite to that point - YET! I have additional reasons for this lengthy road trip other than blackjack. ;)

Dinner table at home

During a meal at home, I have twice pulled my chair back and thought to myself "Wong-out time." Once I hesitated and looked at my wife before realizing that I didn't have to color up.

I have looked at piars or groups of people and cancelled among them: "+3, +1, -3 ..." and I'll see couples as Ace & face, or face and nine - "-3" in my head.

I have heard the din of slot machines hours after leaving the casino, usually in the clatter of change in a cash drawer, or the sounds emanating from a restaurant kitchen. I don't know how casino employees handle so many hours of that sound.

Those washroom faucet sensors are diabolical: wait for the little light to flash; wiggle hands; wiggle some more; give up; move to next faucet and repeat sequence. I now start at one end of the faucets so I can proceed through them methodically until I find one which gives water - no jumping around that way.

Friendo.......lmao.......oh god yea!!!! The casino noises, sometimes it takes days for me to get them out of my head!.!
I figure it takes me 3 days to clear all casino noise, smoke, and just that casino funk in general, from my body and mind. This would be after a good hard 2 week trip......
I don't think there will be to much complaining from the very accomplished AP's on this site.
I think sharing our miserable life with others in the trade is good therapy..
I know this site sure helps me!!!!
3 days and back at it........
Sucker, glad to hear its not all work and no play for 2 months!

I sometimes dream about cards or keep thinking about cards and chips. I seem to have this uncanny ability to memorize numbers or short alphanumeric strings since I just keep thinking about them. Like I can stand on the side of the road and just memorize every passing car's license plate number.

One time I had a 16 hour poker session that I didn't even realize how long it was. I went to the casino at 8:00 in the evening and didn't leave till noon the next day. I was just collecting chips all night since the game was so soft and I completely lost track of time. I was the only player with a mountain of chips. I figured it was time to leave when I had dozed off between hands and someone had to wake me up to let me know that I had to bet or fold. At a 1/2 table, I bought in for $200 and left with over $1500. I was taken aback when I walked outside and saw the sun since I didn't realize how long I was playing.

I know what you mean. I went to the bank to get change for a $100 bill last week. The teller asked "How do you want this?" Without thinking I said, "All red, please."

I recently saw a car wash marquee while heading from one place to another that said "Automatic Car Wash 4567" and I almost reflexively reached for my cheques.

After long counting weekends in the past, I've had the whole numbers speeding by in my head as I'm sleeping thing, and I've canceled out salt and pepper shakers and old and young people walking together, among other things.
