Tropicana update

I just returned from AC i stayed at the trop and it is official they are 100% 6 deck now (not double attack or spanish), they also have the four 4deck tables in pit 17(they have yellow arrows hanginging from the ceilling abouve each table). I just wanted to say a few things about this casino and playing for longevity,I understand the hit and run theroy for a big amount of money but the table max is small here and not worth it play like you want to be able to play there again. I watched a couple of guys get shuffled on and half shoed at the table where i had been playing for 4 days strait and extracted a hefty amount of money from with zero heat whatsoever. These guys were unbelievable they would sit out hand then go table max and just made themselves obvious, in the end they didnt make much at all cause the PC cought on so fast and shuffled on them every time they bet big. DO NOT DO THIS THERE. If you play normal and dont act stupid they will let you play, show the pit crew a little respect and dont try to rub it in there face and you can play for a week strait on there tables with a good 1-15 unit spread, going multiple hands on them. I know because i did it, all well having a pit boss give me a handfull of cohibas, and 200 dollar dinner comp as well as tickets to the christmas show with the wonderful rockets, a room with 4 person hot tub,and a shitload of comp points. Now i just wanted to talk about one pit boss who is new and will remain nameless but if you can spot a newbie and see him swing for the fences. I had this guy tell me that he can spot any counter from a mile away no matter how good they are he told me he was a counter himself and new multiple counts in which he used to bust players of all levels, he even knew some shuffle tracking techniqes. He then continued to tell me (who had been playing in front of him for a couple hours by now mind you) that all counters dress alike, are nerds, and once you see one they are easy to spot. It took everything i had to not walk up to him when i was checking out and say hey jerk i have been counting at your tables for 4 days and more then once on your shift extracting money unnoticed, but i didnt cause i obviously want to continue using this atm the trop has going on. Maybe there is hope for the east coast yet....

Yo Good Looking, thanks for the above, especially the highlighted comments. Since you have been an profitable milking AP for nearly a decade, I get questions for you. How do you keep out the annoying wongers from jumping into your 4deck game and ruin it for you? Will you ask the dealer to put a marker to reserve an empty seat for a friend--- just to keep the wronger out? Will you just throw in 2 red chips on the empty spot --- just before the wronger pops in his big bet? What're your 2 cents?

Trop has some low-lifes with mega bucks to burn at the 4deck pit. i.e., a punk who had bet table maxs frequently. Do you ever wonder how the low-lifes get the money to burn? Well, at least one of them may be a bank robber. Douglas Kissel robbed a Sun Bank to gamble at Trop and was arrested by cops at the casino!

he table max is 500 at the 10$ min table and 1000 at the 25$ min table. he pen is great its a half deck to a deck on the 4 decker and a deck to a deck and a half on the 6 deck( surprisingly enough the trop is real good right now).

I really dont care about wongers i didnt have much problem with many of them I can usually intimidate someone to wait out till the end of the shoe if after i ask them nicely they still want to play. Always be polite as possible first, never turn on the mean until your money making is at stake if you got a high count towards the end of the shoe and they wanna come play 3 hands no no no. As for where the bums get the money, i heard the trop has some crazy suicide record. That tells me most of them are spending family money or taking loans, there are alot of people who gamble away their life so i guess alot just go to the trop. Also as always putting ten bucks in the empty spots on the table always works, i dont do that to much but it def would work i imagine.

What type of spread can a counter get away with without the dealer doing a preferential shuffle?

Did you see any heat coming down in the pit like so many other players have reported?

Ideally, I would like to spread from 2 x $25 to 2 x $400...would they allow this for a 3 hour session?

You won't last 3 hours with that kind of action. I'm a low stakes player and have caught heat mostly playing more than 1 hour. It's really luck of the draw though. Very inconsistent.

That spread is going to catch eyes of the pit no matter what and they may even give poor pen. just because of the action. Too large a spread for a 3 hour session. I'd say keep it at 30 min. intervals with that spread and hit it a couple times throughout the day on different shifts.

If you're Wonging around, you can get away with that kind of action for years. If you sit at the table for 3 hours and do that you're asking for trouble anywhere. Just remain mobile; they'll never see you coming and they won't care after you leave.

Thanks Monkey. Well, my goal is to get to the long run as quickly as possible by playing aggressively and putting in as many hours as I can.

When you say wong around, does that mean use a smaller spread and just jump in and out of the 4 deck games? I hear there are only a couple of tables and they are usually crowded, so I am not sure if this is a viable strategy to employ.

Do you think it would be better to just play the game off the top, use a smaller spread, and then wong out every time the count goes south? Do you think a spread of 2 x $25 to 2 x $300 would be more doable?

How do I know when the shifts change?

Easiest way I've found is to get the answer during the course of normal conversation. I've found that many dealers like to talk about themselves. After the requisite asking the dealer "How's your day going?"/ "Where are you from?"/ "Any kids/pets, etc?" I'll sneak in a "So what time are you here until today/tonite? Eight o'clock? Betcha can't wait, huh?" However, be careful with young female dealers as they may interpret this small-talk as a come-on. Not that there's anything wrong with that . . .

In AC, shifts change, for the most part, at noon, 8 PM and 4 AM. There are some exceptions.

Re Trop, those 4D games are like a carnival. Sometimes, they'll give you heat for a $50 bet and others times, no problem at $300. You have to approach those games with a sense of humor. Just remember, they can't keep you from playing and they know it.

Last time I was there, I had 2 PCs staring me down and one followed me around the casino when I got up from the table. When I came back, I jumped in with a big bet (another counter was at the table and I know his bet schedule) expecting a shuffle up, but it didn't happen. Then, I kept up the big bets in a big count and the PC was giving me "oohs and ahs" as the cards came out. Seemed he was having some fun, too.

One thing iv just coe to realise that is now what i beleive to be possibly of serious concern. I specifically recall 5 different times that i have been playing the game and have had this old "cubs fan looking" guy in a baseball cap watching the game, not just my game, any one of those 4 tables, he never plays, he just stands behind the game and watches, he doesnt come and watch for like 30 minutes and goes away, when hes there, hes been there the whole time i was there, and like i said, 5 different days that i have been there, he has been there possibly more.

I am convinced he is either part of a blackjack team or a counter catcher, anybody else notice this guy loitering a lot?

It is also taboo- you should never use another counter's labor for your EV. It's one thing if you were at the table with him all along and eating the negative counts with him, but to be someplace else and let his big bet signal you to come in and eat up some of his good count, that's totally ratfink.

Ferret - re your question about the guy in the baseball cap, he's an old time counter that the pit knows well, so he can't play. Why he hangs around all the time is a mystery to me.

It would seem to be the OPPOSITE of a cover play.
