Two deck count system and index play suggestions

#1
I recently discovered a 2 deck game available to me in a local casino. Following are the rules

2 Decks , 60% pen

H17, DAS , split all pairs , Split aces receive one card , Double on any pair , Insurance , no surrender , split upto 4 times ( 5 hands ). Very less heat , and easy to play 2 hands. If playing 2 hands , should bet double the table min if more than 2 players are sitting at the table.

Right now i use Hi-Lo with Il18 for the 6 deck games that i play. And the game i used to play has same rules as above but with better pen. I used to spread 1-8 for 6 deck and it will be easy to do the same for the two deck game too.

I also know red 7 but haven't used it before. If some of you seniors can comment on what system will be better to learn to attack this game, it will be awesome. I have plenty of time at hand .

My bank is about 1000 units and replenishable at the rate of 100 units a month. Above all they have great comps

Sounds like a great game! I'd recommend Zen or Unbalanced Zen, and a spread of less than 1:8 if you want to be hanging around long enough to enjoy your comps! This is very important in a home store. Having a place to take dates for a free night out or put up guests in their hotel, or spend a couple of nights for free if work is being done on your house is a valuable thing.

if heat is a non-issue and you are comfortable with hi lo, then use that with a 1-10 or 1-12 spread if possible. i would personally add another 30-50 indices as you will see a greater range of TCs. group/round if you must to be able to retain the additional indices.

of course if you have free time on your hands and can qickly/easily pick up a level 2 count i would try zen, ao2, or hi opt2. but again, you should learn more than the i18 indices.

Yes. This is exactly that kind of a place. They send me a vouchers for couple of rooms each month , and whenever i ask they never say "no" for a room and food.

In all honesty that is an ok DD game, far from the best. I would hate to see you get too excited.

You will see a marked difference between playing a DD and a 6d. You will learn that fast.

I use Hi-lo-lo, that is Hi-Lo with a side count, very easy and I use very heavy indice plays. There are also many tricks I use in DD that I cannot post here about.

If this is a local casino and you are afraid of barrings just behave, get to know the pit and dealers, make them your friends and that will make it very hard for them to bar you. "Make Friends And Influence People".

Use 1-20 spread = calc your top bet (100?) first, min bet ($5?)
1-20 ? i think i will draw too much attention doing this. I can easily do 1-10 , as i do this always here. They might throw me out but , its possible

If I were you, I wouldn't presume that you could get away from 1-10 spread, just because you can at a shoe game. The surveillance would be tighter at a 2D game normally. Most of my back-offs came from higher-limit games. There were more skilled pit crew and surveillance in the sky watching you. If I could do it over again, I would rather play a less profit game than being backed off. Just my 2 cents.

How much of a difference in EV is there using HiLo vs. Zen?

Well i know about this. Its the same limits , same Pit crew. And i have observed the game for more than 3 hours on 3 different days. The people who were playing , were spreading more than 1-10 , in fact one of the players when leaving , smiles at the dealer and says to the second guy " the count is + something , i hope it will work out for you". The dealer goes on talking about what counting systems are and what books we can use and everything.

Well all this aside , thank you for the suggestion , i will keep this in my mind when playing in other casinos. I will restrict myself to 1-8 or 1-6 spread.

Ok today i saw one dealer's pen like .3 deck in this 2 deck game. I was so excited i played all night tonight. But i am still using hi-lo with same il-18 indices. How does hi-lo compare to red 7 in this game ?

This is similar to a game by me but the are S17 (how rare is that?!!). Depends on the dealer for pen but I have seen some deal far down. What sucks is the limit is usually 10-200 or 15-300...

You will go backwards if change to red 7. Zen is what I use now after played with hilo for a while. It wasn't that hard to convert.
