I just want to correct something I said about the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood FL. They do have tables that use non-continuous shufflers. Also, their blackjack pays 3-2.
If you get there early you can find $10 tables which go to $25 by 11am.
Well, I was down $500 on Thursday and I was completely baffled at my losing streak at the tables with CSMs. I have never lost so badly in the 10 years that I have played. I was about to give up but decided instead to play once more at the non-csm tables. I took out another $200 and headed off in search of the $50 tables without CSMs and to my surprise there were $25 tables too. I sat there from 11pm until 2:30 am and I recovered my losses and earned $100 dollars. At one point I bet $300 and won, it felt good to see the dealer paying me in black chips. It was a tough table and I was losing a lot of hands but I made up for it by placing large bets at the right time. By 2am I had won $1,100 and I thought for a second to keep it and walk away but instead I put aside the money I originally lost ($500) plus $100 profit that I wanted to walk away with and bet the rest and lost it. This happens alot and I realize it's probably not the smart thing to do but the rush feels great and sometimes I do win and double my money but mostly I do it for the rush. Of course, I do feel like crap if I lose the money, but if it was money I had won, I get over it pretty quickly. On two occasions I did this and got blackjack, the people at the table loved it and shook my hand. Does anyone else do this? Do you win a good deal of money, pocket some and place the rest on a single bet for the rush and the possibility of a nice win?
Also, While I was there I saw all sorts of characters. There were two african american guys with large gold chains at my table that kept standing on their chairs, hugging eachother, and hollering loudly every time they won. There was the woman with large dark sunglasses that looked like a model, she was playing $1,000 per hand and playing three positions. The dealer was also very funny. He did all sorts of things like placing your second card face down if your first was an ace and then very slowly and dramatically turning it over, or making the motion as if he was turning his down card over when he had an ace showing even when he did not have blackjack, or stopping the game to observe some of the beautiful women walking by, which caused all the guys at the table to also turn around to have a look. For me, this is a big part of the fun, the people.
I am in Tampa now and there is no Blackjack here. I'm enjoying the city and preparing for my trip to San Juan in 10 days.
