Hello,

Heading to Vegas Apr 21st thru 25th with a BR of $1,200. I usually play 6 - 8 deck BJ and I am a pretty good BS person... I haven't got into card counting yet.

I'm looking for all recommendations for my BR of $1,200 and should I stick with the 6-8 or go find some SD or DD BJ

Also I will be looking for 3-2 Payout on BJ.

Most BJ in Vegas pays 3-2,except for single deck. SD pays 6-5 in the vast majority of houses.Always ask,though. There are some 6-5 shoe games out there.
A $1200 BR means if you are flatbetting,you should be betting $10. $20 top.
Where are you staying,will you have a car or do you mind taking buses?Vegas is pretty spread out,so knowing those answers helps point you in the right directions.
 
Staying at Paris.

Nope will not have a car.

Don't wanna pay Vegas gas prices right now.

Don't mind to do the duece 24 hr pass.
 
A good rule of thumb is not to play BJ at any Harrahs property.If it uses the Total Reward card,it's a Harrahs.Your best bets would be1) the Downtown area,2)Slots of Fun or 3)Tropicana.I'm beginning to hear good things about the Trops low roller games,but I haven't played there myself.
 
If you're not counting cards, there's no reason why you shouldn't stay on the Strip and play there. The clientele is classier, the atmosphere is nicer, the hookers are prettier, and the food is better. Find a CSM with S17 and 3:2 BJ (all major Strip casinos have DAS, LS, and resplit any) and sign up for a players card, you can probably earn at least two free meals in 4 days.

Honestly, if you're not counting cards, there's not much difference between the Strip casinos. Planet Hollywood has table dancers in one pit and Bellagio has the best buffet (so if you aim for comps aim there). Monte Carlo and Barbary Coast (or whatever it's called now - Bill's Gambling Saloon?) have the lowest table limits, but both are kind of dumpy and smell funnier than average.

To clarify: is your gambling bankroll $1,200, or is the trip bankroll $1,200?

I was in Vegas a few weeks ago.

If I was going with $500 for 4 days I wouldn't play higher than $5/hand.

If you aren't counting the amount of decks doesn't matter much. Since you know BS for shoes then stick with that. Probably the only place on the strip worth playing is the Trop (Slots of fun is a dump). They have a S17, ds, ls game for $5. If you want to travel a little Stratosphere has $5 tables as well, but the rules aren't as good and it is out of the way.

If you get to the end of the trip and you are winning or even you can then look for $10 tables. MGM Grand has S17, ds, ls, rsa for $10. NYNY and Monte Carlo have the same with H17. This is assuming its not primetime.

Also, if you are doing a lot of traveling/sightseeing on the strip I suggest looking into the monorail. It's $9/day compared to $5 for the duece but it is much faster.

One morning, about 10:30, I just missed the bus (I was on the other side of the street) I had to wait 45 minutes for the next one. Then when that one got there we all ran up to it and it let on about 8 people and it was full. I would have been next to get on and the next bus was right behind it. But it didn't pull up where the first bus was, it stopped twenty yards back putting me at the back of the line. Of course the 60 people who had showed up 15 to 2 minutes prior all got on leaving about 10 people, including me, standing there for another 15-20 minutes waiting for the next bus. Then with the strip trafic it took almost 2 hours to walk from the LV Hilton to the bus stop in front of Circus Circus and ride it to the Monte Carlo. If I would have taken the Monorail I would have been there in 15-20 minutes minus the old lady rubbing her dirty hair on me. For now on, if the monorail can get me close I'm taking it.

To me it's worth an extra $4 for an hour or two of extra vacation.
 
I'm not sure how Hooters BJ is,.... BUT... for signing up for a players card you get a free $25 matchplay and a ticket to Bobby Slaytons show. If you've never heard or seen him,picture Don Rickles on speed.Not for the easily offended,but downright hilarious.
 
I sent a letter to their director of promotions asking about coupons or whatever they could send and in their letter it said they have $5 Blackjack 24/7

Didn't know how the rules was.

I have a gambling bank roll of $1,200 with a trip to eat/do whatever of about $5 to 600

So total of $1,800
 
some thoughts

True, Slots-A-Fun is a dump, but I'm a big fan of the place. They offer a nice DD game ($5 min) with the Lucky Ladies side bet -- you'll find one of these tables on each side of the pit. (At least that's the way it was the last time I was there a few months ago.) Depending on the dealer, you can get very good penetration on these games, and because they break-in a lot of inexperienced dealers, they tend to make mistakes. I remember one night when another gentleman and myself were playing - and betting the Lucky Ladies side bet. The newbie dealer would pay the side bet EVERY time our cards were SUITED, whether they equalled 20 or not! She confused this bet with the Royal Match, I'm assuming. Whatever the case, it was a very profitable evening.

Just off the Strip (and in proximity to the Rio and Palms) you'll find a decent double-deck game at the Gold Coast. And at the Rio, you can catch a free shuttle back to mid-Strip, where you might want to stop into the Imperial Palace. Keep your eye out for a decent game there ... plus I have found them to be very good with comps.

And, yes, you'll find the best games Downtown. At the $500 bankroll, you really don't want to go higher than $5-10 a hand.

And I agree -- the Monorail is nice, and I really hope it gets expanded to McCarran and to Fremont Street.

slots of fun is a dump and is usually so packed that you can't get a seat. if you like playing in the midst of a bunch of drunks along with drunks who just got married, this is the place for you.

Tropicana has a $10 game, maybe 5 too. Either way the rules are pretty crappy, it isn't a great game ( i played it with some $10 match plays), but the trop is a bit of a dump too, the only advantage is that it is sort of close to paris. you can walk from paris to trop to hooters if you're in ok shape and don't mind some exercise. hooter's games are pretty crap, but one pit is full of hooters girls if that matters to you.

if you aren't counting, you must play perfect BS, and bet the table minimum, no martingale, no gut plays. your trip BR could vanish quick if you don't bet table minimum.
 
I know BS to a T w/ no problems at all

Its the stupid asses around me that splits stupid crap and doubles and plays like they should just send the casino a check and save a seat on an airline.

I usually do progression...

I wait until I'm 10 or 15 up then I progress a 5 chip after each hand and then start minimum after a loss.

That way I win and it continues to add up without using my bank roll.

Out of curiousity,when did you last play at Tropicana? Several people i trust have told me good things about it in the last few months.Good rules,good pen,late surrender on $5 tables isn't too shabby.Have you been there recently?
