Weird coincidence or paranoid?

Imagine u r playing DD at a casino you've only played at a few times and not at all for a few months. If the following events occurred what would u think or do?

-dealer greets u by your name

-you play through several neutral shoe....min flat betting unless count increases.

-u finally have a few good shoes and r up a little for the first time in the session.

-your name is called over PA to come to customer service.

U r told that u won a cash promo (details:amount purposely omitted). the
prom was not advertised...

-it takes several minutes to actually get the cash in your hand. The cash is prob less than u would have made if u stayed at DD table.

-u return to DD table to play. Of course...no decent counts for many shoes. More min flat betting and small loss.

-eventually the count improves again and is positive for enough consecutive shoes that the chips are making their way to your side of the table. (to clarify....u r betting red and green chips)

-much to your surprise u hear your name called over PA again....asking u to
return to customer service.

-u get there....all they want is your signature (which they "forgot" to get earlier)

u return to table where u had left chips....the dealer (not initial one that --somehow knew your name) starts talking about card counting....very random....u certainly didn't bring up the topic (lol)...dealer tells u counting isn't illegal (duh)...but it isn't tolerated by the casino.

Weird? Coincidence? Cause for concern? Keep in mind u r only betting red and green chips and counts never got good enough for more than a 1-5 spread.

Pros....casino giving away free $$ nice.
Cons.....having name announced over loud speaker not once....but
twice!:flame:

My hunch is that leaving ASAP was the right choice....but perhaps I was imagining things?

Is anyone really going to worry about a red/green chipper. Would a store invent a promo and give away cash to get u to leave a table when u r winning?

Curious as to what others think or would do in a situation like this?

some dealers like to know the players' name

I found a few dealers who like to peek into the rating system to check out players' name. This is how they are trying to be friendly, I suppose. This happened in a few casinos that I frequently visit. I don't have any explanations for your other observations. Leaving the place would be my choice, if the dealer brought up the topic of card counting out of no where.

I think it's coincidence. Although strange.

I once had a dealer ask me if I had seen the movie 21 as I sat down before I played a hand. He talked about how they had a good thing going and got greedy.

It's a small casino and I had never had seen this dealer before. I had played this joint a few weeks prior with a 1-20 spread on a few shoe's.

Coincidence or were they on to me?

I think dealers are trained to chat up patrons for two reasons. 1 to keep the ploppies in the seats, and B. to try and distract all the suspected counters.

I don't think you have a problem. Of all the things they could do to you, handing you cash is not in the usual canon of ways they can deal with a counter. It's also illegal to offer a rigged or phony promotion, not worth the risk just to get you to get up and walk over to the promo booth.

It is usually good for longevity to take a long break after a good opportunity independent of your results. Lots of ploppies bet big right before they have to go somewhere. Checking your watch often as the count goes up can help really sell it. In a casino rich environment move to another location. Keeping sessions short also is a big help. If you sit and play long enough you get noticed. If you play the same store a lot try to move your time around between shifts. From the people on the floor's perspective you haven't been playing that long.

Mica, DD always, usually,, comes with heat, stay frosty my friend.

Zack, that spread is asking for it, just so you know.

My take on it is-----

Mica,
These other guys don't know how cute you are-------I do------ and that fact explains the dealer recognition.
The rest of it is more than likely paranoia on your part.

You are willing to learn how to count cards, but too lazy to type out the word "you." Interesting.
Nature vs Nurture. I suppose in this case the OP has nurtured the txt lingo and now it is part of her writing style. IMHO LOL!

(1) If you are a good looking female , I can understand a dealer going out of his way to check the screen or your card to get your name. (I assume you are playing rated since they called you by name over the loudspeaker, but I could be wrong.) If you are male and the dealer is female, you have a special gift for the ladies. If you are straight male, and the dealer is crooked :joker:, do yourself a favor and avoid this dealer as he may want to follow up good pen with good pen and that is not good). If you are crooked, you would not be writing this post.

(2) If you are a believer in the supernatural, you would probably conclude that "someone" is trying to tell you something.

(3) If #2 is false, ignore the facts, except for the dealer knowing your name and talking about card counting. Casinos don't give away money to persuade counters not to ply their trade. More likely they would (a) back you off immediately if they considered you a serious threat, or (b) they would wait until you were losing good, then back you off. The threat of (b) remains, since the dealer may have seen both your name and skill level in your record on screen.

Both #2 and #3 suggest that you should put not go back to that particular casino for quite some time. :( #1 suggests that you your time in the gym was well spent.

Betting green, drawing heat

Spreading 1 - 6 green on double deck at places where $25 min. are the highest denomination tables outside of the high limit area often will draw heat.

This forum is great! Never know what I will read....but almost always entertaining and educational!

Most of my posting is done via my smart phone.....and yes....I abbreviate as much as I know how...substituting "u" for "you" or "DD" for "double deck" saves time that is better spent practicing counting and memorizing indices!:joker:

Billy...,thx for compliments....but have u had your Vision checked anytime in the last few years?

Thanks for all the helpful replies to my OP. In retrospect.....I think I was mostly bothered by my name being announced over the loud speaker twice. Counting cards is a fairly new thing for me. I have another occupation with clients and co workers that r unaware of my extracurricular activities!
