What a roller coaster ride last night.

Began the night playing a couple bad shoes at my local store dropping about 70 units...stopped playing when the pit boss raised the min. from $25 to $50. At this point I was down 95 units. I then preceded to head on over to another store in my area. Sat and played tug of war for awhile, not really winning or losing. But then things started to move downhill again. Now, I find myself down 180 units for the night between the 2 stores.

I only have about $400 left with me but staring at golden opportunity of a +10 true count. This is it.. one more hand for a max bet if I lose. I decided to go a little higher than max and place my largest bet of the night ..$350

I was dealt 5,5 vs dealer's 9 card and didn't have the cash in my wallet to double down with a deck rich in high cards. Since I was playing heads up I asked the pit boss if it would be okay leave and come back with more cash from the ATM so I could place my double. I got the okay from the PB and came back 5 minutes later with the cash I needed.

This is it.. if I lose here..it's a 216 unit loss for the night. I then placed my double down, feeling fairly confident knowing the deck is stacked with high cards. Well..the dealer flips over a 2 for a total of 12.
Staring at the dealer's 9.. I get up from my seat, about ready to head for the door and accept defeat. Amazingly, the dealer pulls a 6 and then a face to bust the hand.

I continued to play my normal max at $300. I win again. Then win again with blackjack. :grin: By the end of the shoe I've recouped 100 units.

A little bit later I run into another hot shoe with my max bet out.

I end up leaving the casino quite relieved with a 25 unit loss.

i like those doubles, where you expect to lose and the dealer busts anyways ahaha. one time i had 88 vs a dealer 9, and it wasn't time to surrender since it was about true 5.5 here and thats a surrender at true 7. so i split, got a 2 on my first 8 for 10, double, and pull a 6... next card i get on my other 8 is another 8 so i resplit, get another 2 and double, and low and behold another 6. im thinking im screwed now ccuz i have my max bets playing in this hand. i get a face on my next 8 and the dealer pulls a 5 on her 9 for 14 and then bam, face. i don't think ive ever had such a beautiful looking ugly hand ahaha.

Good for you man, you walked the razors edge and escaped with just a small cut, thanks to your skillz, counting, and guts.

Had the pit boss NOT allowed you to leave the table, you would've hit your 12 and busted! Most houses don't allow it, but if there ever was a time to tip a pit boss; that was it!
