what is the best count for me to learn and play shoe games in todays blackjack world?

I am pretty new to CC and I use Hi/Lo. I like the idea of having a balanced system with a true count.. I tried KO and while easier for beginners I did not like this system. It didn't seem accurate enough for me when I'd play on my own (practice). I felt as if things were way more accurate and predictable while using Hi/Lo.
What are your abilities?
1) can you count a side count while keeping a primary count?
2) Can you make true count conversions
3) Are you able to add a mixture of -2, -1, +1, +2 for various cards or are you limited to adding -1 and +1 without making mistakes
