What should I have done?

What should you have done? The obvious and correct answer is don't be a headstone and you won't be in that situation in the first place.
How true, Spot On, just what I would expect from a "Top Gun".:)

You shouldn't tip much, but make sure you know your +EV in the game before you tip, so you realize exactly how much of the money you are making you are giving away. I am a notorious over tipper and I don't think it has ever extended my longevity a minute, so what is the point really?

I think every counter thats been in the casino I deal in knows that I know lol, i count while i deal sometimes as well.
i'm not really a toke hustler, and since I play an advantage game just like them I don't believe in ratting them out.

I'm in sort of a similar situation. I have found a game with a small positive EV off the top involving combining different promos and requiring visits on multiple days. Because it isn't necessarily simple and not totally obvious, I have not yet seen anyone else playing it "correctly". In fact, I've yet to find a true basic strategy player there. I'm sure the promos won't last, but in the meantime I want to play longer hours there, so I have been playing with a very conservative spread most of the time, and occasionally just flat betting (at a much smaller +EV) when I'm not in the right mental state to count.

One of the dealers who had dealt to me on a few recent sessions made repeated comments to me suggesting that he knew I was playing at an advantage. During this particular session, I was just relaxing and flat betting (for the promos) so I played dumb, tried to deflect his comments (and feel him out) and continued to play. This same dealer had been harassing other players that day and was clearly in a bad mood. He mentioned that he had been demoted from floor for getting in trouble. Other players complained about him to the floor after he left, so hopefully they will take anything he says about me with a grain of salt. I'm not sure how to handle him. I am giving it a short break at that casino, and when I go back, I intend to basically flat bet for the next couple of sessions to get a feel for whether or not the floor seems to care that I'm there. It cuts my EV about in half, but at least if they are giving my play extra scrutiny, they will just see a BS player flat betting. He has harassed me a couple of times for making what were actually BS moves that worked well (meaning I got lucky and drew to 20 or 21), so I'm thinking about bringing a BS card so when he makes a big deal about a play, I can show the floor that it was correct and basically discredit whatever that dealer says later about my game.

I don't know how I should handle this particular dealer, but I figure they won't ban me for flat betting and playing basic strategy. Worst case scenario seems to be that they change the promos, which will happen eventually anyway. Maybe after another couple of sessions I'll have a better idea of where I stand.
