Why I don't play poker!

People who know me,know I like to go to casinos and gamble. The everlasting question that comes up is why don't you play poker. The main reason is that I don't like getting threatened by the people I take money from. Early in my card playing career I use to play but people would get mad and not talk to me or tell me wait til next time. I wonder how you poker players ever put up with people like that or do you learn to run fast and evade these types?

I've never come even remotely close to feeling threatened while playing poker.

Don't you get the same or worst problem with BJ. At least in poker eveybody knows they are playing against one another. You take the guys money or he will take yours. Sounds like a fair game to me. At least the rules and expectations are clear to everybody.

With BJ everybody knows you are playing against the house with your own money. So it shouldn't be others business what you do. That is suppose to be the case but in real life there are others who would want to crush you when you play what you played. Even some AP here as earlier postings show would want to crush the new players for their play.

So isn't the BJ less playable than Poker.


Because in BJ how you play your card affect the other players card

What kind of games are you playing and where? People get mad of course, but kill them with kindness. "Sorry bro, got lucky" "I never hit that draw" "I never flop sets" etc. Poker is a mind game. If you're a quiet nit who looks nervous, people are naturally not going to like you. And those clowns who let their ego get in the way pay my bills and should be paying yours :laugh:

A young punk threatened a friend of mine for turning his hand over to slow. My friend is 70 yrs old & not in very good health. If I had been there ,chitlins would would have been on the floor.

Well, it is considered poor etiquette. But if he threatened someone, I'd have him thrown out.

also, can someone explain to me why slow rolling is considered bad manners? Is it saying like I beat you so bad that I'm gonna slowly show you how I beat you? poker seems to have a unique lexicon and gesture diversity that I must learn. if it truly is rude, I might have to do it all the time now!:laugh:

In my opinion, I'd like to see every player have to show at showdowns, win or lose. There's no reason the winning player shouldn't also get the information of what his opponent was willing to take to the river.

Furthermore, I wish there'd be some kind of variant of poker where every single mucked card is shown - no secrets past any given hand...it'd force players to change up their playstyle significantly, so you can't always be only tight or only loose.

And not just rude to the person being slowrolled, but also rude to everyone else at the table, whose time is being wasted.
