why the betting system usually said

betting 2 unit off the top , for single to four deck game ?

why we bet 2 units for no advantage?

and when should we drop back to 1 unit ?

It's a cover play. It will reduce your winrate, as you are betting more into a disadvantage. You need to decide whether it is worth it, based on your specific situation.

It permits you to spread wider without being so obvious about counting cards.

If the floor person thinks that your minimum bet is around 2 units he will see your spread as ½ of what it really is.

At DD a 6 or 8 to 1 spread is the limit you should ever attempt, but if it is perceived as 3 or 4 to 1, you will not get much heat.

Your longevity is far less threatened.

Agree with Flash here. If you consistently start each new deal with a one unit bet like a robot, you'll be too obvious. It's a pattern that's hard to miss. One tip that'll help though, is vary your initial bet. Start with one unit if the dealers last up card was a ten card, two units if it wasn't. It portrays a randomness while cutting your initial 2 unit bet by 31%.

To look erratic

To look erratic you could also really put it to them if the count rises on DD when you did place the higher first bet. I know overbetting is dangerous but I would think after a higher open bet you would walking a little taller and have a little more leeway to really put on the heat.
