I just read Thorp's Beat the Dealer as a matter of interest. Obviously it is mostly outdated, but some interesting anecdotes and thoughts none the less. One entry about getting shuffled up on caught my attention, and the following isn't meant to make real money, more as a thought exercise:
If you are in a casino and getting shuffled up on, and the deck "cut in half," how much can you make at such a game? Assume typical AC rules, S17, etc, and 60% pen (as this is usually what happens when the deck is "cut in half" in my experience.) Also, if you increase your bet, the deck gets shuffled, so if you want a new deck, you increase your bet and start over.
Using hi-lo, and full indexes, the most I could achieve was about .2units/100hands, assuming flat-betting, and a wong out around TC of -0.75.
Here are the winrates by wong-out, for interest (using CVData, 200M rounds):
-3.0: -.135
-2.0: +.027
-1.5: +.032
-1.0: +.182
-0.5: +.180
+0.0: -.171
+1.0: -.391
+2.0: -.396
+3.0: -.402
Can we improve upon this? How about if we "wong by depth?"
Any thoughts would be great.
