Wonging with top bet out always... Or should I just play all counts

Last month I decided to have my max bet out at +8 or higher my max bet being $70. Having to wait 3-5 decks for decks to get the right count when ever I wanted to wong in. Dropping my bets to table minimum at counts of +7 and lower wonging out at $50 when ever the count reached +2 or lower. btw table min being $10 I did that strategy on a wim and pulled it out of thin air. After playing about 20 decks and 5 different casinos I had 2 1/2 times what I started with allowing me to have a max bet of $175 at + 8 and higher and still wonging out at +2 or lower for $50. I only played 4-8 deck games with this strategy and did quite well. playing this way just on multi deck games only. I did play a few DD side bet games but I'll keep those results to myself.


My question is, was that a legit strategy or was I getting lucky?

Also, could I have increased my +2 or lower wong out bets of $50 after I more than doubled my bank playing 4-8 deck games or would that have been negative e.v?

Never have been much on blackjack math so I am not sure about anything except when I touch felt my pockets get greener. Any help or advice to strengthen my strategy would be much appreciated.

Back to thread topic it seemed playing like this was much more advantageous. I went expecting to make a just about 1k. But went well beyond that and then some. Didn't think I would spot as much side-bet games that were similar to the ones I play locally either which more than increased my PLAYING bankroll and has allowed me to relax for quite a while.

So, do I have math to back up my play or should I stick to spreading and play all counts.

Your strategy is what I advised for a short bankroll to give a good chance to make real money. You expose yourself to some risk but you will make a nice hourly. Obviously you are not using a level 1 count which helps to flag more opportunities to make playing decisions that protect your bankroll. You didn't mention bankroll, counting system or session bankroll. They are relevant to answering your question.

Actually I did mention my bankroll if you looked hard enough, however I should have been more specific. My total bankroll is around 8k, my trip bankroll is 3k and session bankroll was 1k this trip. Usually it is 2.5k . I do however use a level 1 count which is hi-lo, but use side counts for NOT only playing decisions but betting decisions. I keep three side counts. One in my head and 2 with foot positions. But for the fact of me not wanting to go into specifics of my system. Please just keep the parameters hi-lo and account for an extra 2% advantage my system gives me. My PE with my system is 78%, my BC is 91%, and my IC is 89%. At least that is what a player/author has told me who will not be named. If you need anything else please dont hesitate to ask.

BTW I only learned by listening to conversations at the tables. I have never read a book. I did take one class by a well respected blackjack author but stopped because he said I knew wat was wat and I would be wasting my money continuing to attend the classes.

At a session BR of 1K I wouldn't go much higher than $70 if you don't want the extra 2% advantage figured in for the side counts. I think the $70 is reasonable, $60 or $65 might be more exact for straight HILO (no side count). Until results had me considering scaling back I would stick to $70.

As long as you are not seeing casino interest in you, I would stay with the plan. It seems to be working well and should allow impressive improvement in game longevity.

This is what I always want to do, but ploppies don't like us mid entry that will ruin their flow, how do you manage that. You just sit there and back count? I am always too nice to not wait till the end of the shoe or at least till the count is really really good that I cant resist.

I just stand back and don't pay attention to the cards till the initial 2 for each player is dealt. l pretend to talk on the cell phone face away from the table time to time, talk to other people watching sometimes talk to the pit bosses themselves. If it is a new pit boss I may play negative counts if I am side counting or just make dumbass plays. But because of the way I play I can afford bad calls unlike most other players mostly beginners. I normall play a little higher than that. But I didn't know how Vegas was going to act with me being a CC so I stayed lower than I would at my local stores.

If you need some tutoring pm me. I have a couple of was for people to count who cant keep the count in their head.

I rarely see the true count going to +8 so I'd imagine most of the time you're sitting around not playing. You're wasting a lot of EV by not playing +2 to +8. At least flat bet $100 for all counts +2 and higher.

I agree. it is wasting EV and wasting your brain sitting there counting all that time for nothing. It gets somewhat tiring after a while. I wong in at +3 with a bet over the table minimum and wong out between tc 1-2. If it goes above 3 I ramp the bets quickly. If you are not shy about getting your money on the table than get it out whenever you have an advantage.

Still a big waste of your time. I'd strongly recommend jumping in at +1, or +2 at the very most, and wong out at 0 or -1.
