Just won $8000 at the slots at my local casino. I have always used a small bankroll to play blackjack and this gives me a perfect opportunity to play with a half decent bankroll.

Since it is a small to mid-size casino this was a pretty big deal. Do you think if I spread my bets from min to max based on the count with nothing in between I could pass it off as being careless with my new winnings? Or would I just come across as another counter?

Put the money in your pocket and do not return to the casino until you know the answer already. You're top bet would be a few green chips...the pit isn't going to notice your action and will not even be aware of your good fortune at slots.

Actually the pit may very well be aware of how much he won at slots and may very well be paying more attention to him since they no doubt want to get their money back.

That's just stupid, but remember who we're dealing with here

Moronic may have been a better term...to think that casinos - of ANY size - stalk slots players to "get their money back" from slots wins is comical.

Umm... there are whole departments devoted to this. Marketing, mail offers, hosts making phone calls...

I don't know if they necessarily "go after" someone just because they hit a jackpot, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Who said anything about stalking? All I said was that the pit "may very well be aware". Which part of "may" and "very well" do you not understand? If you and 21forme don't agree with me that's fine, but there's absolutely no reason to resort to insults and name calling, especially over a matter so trivial. And please don't attempt to speak for me and attribute words to me that I clearly did not state. Thank you.

The fact that winners (short term) are typically comped more than losers answers this question.

Comps

About a decade ago a bar owner from GR won $68,000 on a slot jackpot at Bay Mills, he was instantly given RFB, including cigarettes and introduction to some loose Tribal women. This bar owner then decided to stay and play rather than head back to his bar in GR.

In about 2 weeks this guy had lost back most if not all of the $68,000 and he was unceremoniously kicked out of his room and lost all RFB and free Cigarettes.

So, as far as I am concerned, the casino is well aware of the big winners and will work to get that money back, in any way they can.

Sure. They know he is a slot player, and they know he now has money. What more information do they need to target a player?
