Write a book?

I'm somewhat half-assedly considering writing a book. Probably on the comp system/how to gamble well aimed at a general audience, but useful to APs for the information on the comp system. It won't cover any sensitive game-related moves (i.e. anything in Exhibit).

I think Max Rubin's book is great, but getting out of date. Is this a good idea? What should I include?

Tell people how much work that AP actually is. That will weed out many that shouldn't be trying it. Many of kewljason's posts would prove helpful.
Go for it. A nice pen name helps (like creeping panther):laugh:

Exactly. More emphasis on table games, playing with a low house advantage, and how to really abuse the system.

Also, how to use the comp system if you're a counter or other AP.

If you are going to write a book don't go about it "half-assedly" otherwise the book will be worth only ass wipe. Put your full effort in it. I am sure it could help a lot of people.

Go for it. As a self-proclaimed comp whore (but not particularly adept at it), I would welcome such a book.

You should include a chapter on social media and comps/deals.

Max forgot that chapter ;)

I would buy a book like this, if it really were a legitimate improvement/update over the best of the existing literature. Not if it's half-assed, though.

Well, I was half-assedly considering it, not going to write a half-assed book.

The book will use a full ass.

As I have now become a small time AP book collecter this is awesome and to have it done by someone, well at least a handle, that I know or at least read alot from. DOOOO IIIIIIIIIITTTTT!

If you do end up writing a book that truly shows how to exploit the comp systems, you'll end up being nickeled and dimed by the few publishers that publish gambling books. By the time they finish raking you for catalog placement, an intro by a famous person, and all the assorted nonsense they try to pull, you'll end up with 25 cents per book sold, with sales in the four figure range.
The casinos, on the other hand, will pay you some serious money not to publish it.

Is this a business venture or a personal goal? As a business venture books are usually losers and can cost you a lot of time and money. It is very likely you will lose money on this if you have never written or had published anything before. QFIT would be a good one to ask. I thought his book (volume II) was well written and contained excellent info. He also has a long standing reputation in BJ from his software and promotes his products in the industry. For the hours and money he spent on modern blackjack I would be very surprised if his return netted him much of anything and he may have lost money on it. I'm speculating of course, but you're not QFIT reputation wise so expect it to be that much more difficult for you. You could save a lot of costs and put something together on your own and make an ebook, but that would be even less than half-assed without properly editing, publishing, and marketing.

Just don't expect return on your investment beyond the satisfaction of helping a few gamblers hustle some comps.

Does he need to fully write it first? Or can he shake down the industry with just a good treatment?

Maybe I'll do a deal with Kevin Trudeau - "Comp Secrets They Don't Want You To Know About!"
