2 backoffs this week. I'm pissed.

I usually play double deck but was playing a $10 shoe game just to pass the time spreading no more than 5:1. Turned $100 into almost $700. I guess they didn't like that.

Don't get how some of you guys spread 20 to 1 and have been doing it for years. How the hell can you disguise a 20:1 spread?

I'm pissed! Did I mention I'm pissed? Well I am.

Maybe the problem was the previous backoffs...

if you were in vegas, unless you were offstrip at a smaller casino, it was not turning 100 into 700 that got you backed off. thats peanuts, even for a small joint in vegas. either it was your previous backoff where word got passed around or there is something you do while playing that gives you away. stop counting out loud and following each card with your whole head when they come out

The first one came from surveillance at an HET property. They made me based on the bet spread, even though it was only 6:1 it was following the count with little regard to cover. My mistake. Never saw it coming.

The second was either word is out, or it was this slime PB who may have had a note on me from a few months ago when he was suspicious but I didn't give him time to call in the troops.

The place can handle the action he's just an asswipe PB. The whole pit filled up with people. I knew it was coming down but it was too late to get out. He told me at the table while coloring up. Jerkoff.

Something is very wrong here. No Harrahs property is going to take the time to backcount a $10 player. Not gonna happen.

i thought you were going to say something was wrong cause someone was playing at a HET property when given the choice not to!

Yeah, I think you're doing something that gives you away. Do you sit at third base? Wear a hat and sunglasses?

$25 double deck at harrah's. They were decent about it.

Harrah's properties strictly forbid the use of one's brain during the play of blackjack.

ohbehave asked:

"How the hell can you disguise a 20:1 spread?"

You use a little cover and a little camouflage and you act like a tourist.

Most importantly you learn how to place your bets properly.

You achieve 20-1 by betting 2 or 3 or 4 units off the top and stay at 2 units or so from -1 to +1. At -2 Wong Out. If you remain, then at -3 bet 1 unit. Ramp your bets up to 20 units [presuming that you have computed your Optimal Bet Spread and have an adequate bankroll]; and for goodness sake never more than double or halve your last bet. Oh! Lest IU forget you need to (metaphorically) grit your teeth and leave frequent minimally sized tokes.

That's a little different. Any pitch game is potentially a backoff situation. If surveillance has just one guy who is capable of detecting a counter (usually they have fewer than that) he will be watching the pitch game(s).

And you know what to do with that information.

getting backed off at a pitch game is very easy if you're not careful.

i was getting clobbered at one store, and didn't see any really great counts, so my spread was pretty small, many people at the table were betting 2 of my units, or playing 2 hands,so i thought i would fit right in....

i don't know where this story is going, but an over anxious pit critter backed me off without enough info if i was betting based on counting, just simply playing two hands for one round, or one hand for one round, even betting 2 units off the top. she didn't like that i was changing my bet at ALL. it was gross paranoia on their part, and like i said, i was in for 10-15 units without aggressive betting when they backed me off.

good to know, so that I can play on a different shift.

Are you saying its no big deal to go back to that same store on a different shift? Were you playing rated? I played rated at Harrah's when got backed off. Should I not try to return for awhile, or never?

To update my situation I played in 2 different out of town locations over the weekend and have played at a couple local casinos, without any more heat. One of the stores over the weekend was even a Harrah's property.

I have been working on better cover play and will probably start playing more 6 deckers. There are also a few 4 deckers locally.

Before I begin I'd just like to tell you to take anything I say with a huge grain of salt.

Just based on other posts I've read on this site and others, I'd say that you could probably go back (just try to stay off their radar), but you shouldn't play rated anymore -- so no more comps, but give the blackjack another try; they aren't going to shoot you :)

when i play rated, i play polite.

you can return, but a different shift is highly advisable, and do not play rated. if they tagged your account, you'll be backed off before your cash in converted to chips.

i have not returned to either of the two places in vegas where i have been backed off, but will by the end of the month. i don't live close enough to go back sooner. the local places i play at, i have behaved myself and they have a much higher tolerance than vegas sweatshops - or they are grossly ignorant - or both.

Define "behaving oneself". 1-6 on double deck and 1-12 on shoes?
