I am a casino dealer

For a player, and for you and your tips, it's important for them to know that you're rooting for them to win. The game becomes very unpleasant when the dealer seems to enjoy watching ppl lose their money.

Try to save your advice for the players that ask for it. Don't give unsolicited advice. You'll only be wasting your breath.

On an unusual play, "Are you sure you want to do that?" is a good question to ask. When I was new to the game, there were a couple of times when I tried to double down on what I thought was an A-7, only to be reminded by the dealer that I had a hard 17.

I like the dealers that call out your total after a hit. It keeps the game moving faster without the long pauses while ppl try to add the cards themselves.

I like a dealer with personality...who is business like but realizes that we are customers looking for a good time. A little joking back and forth is always fun.

In early August I had a male dealer at Kewadin in Sault Ste. Marie that did NOT speak at all! One woman at the table even tried to make a game of it but he only stared soberly at the cards and refused to speak or engage the players. I got up and left the table. Winning is no. one but it's always a good time to have a fun table.

Forget all the rest of the bullsh*t - I like the dealer to strive to deal out DEEPER PENETRATION than any of the other dealers in his/her casino. Period. zg

It is the only honest thing a dealer can do for you

Sure, some of you are more comfortable with a smiling talkitive dealer. Most of us like putting some time in on the table that is being dealt to by a beautiful dealer, but as far as blackjack goes, the only thing a dealer can do for you is supply good penetration. Of course they could be a flasher but that is an accident.
There are a couple of grumpy, no personality dealers that I am the only person I know who loves to play with these guys. They have been known to cut a deck or even less off a six deck shoe. I think they are not only grumpy but lazy and want to shuffle as little as possible.

I'm pretty new, but...

I like a dealer who lets you signal before moving on. I know I have a hard 18, the dealer knows I have a hard 18, everyone knows I'm going to stand...let me tell you that and don't just move on. There are several other examples of this. The most notable is the A7 hand. I've been passed over several times by dealers who thought I was going to stand on a soft 18 where I wanted a hit or double and that just ain't right.

Get your extra chips out on the table faster. Time is money!

If everyone knows you are going to stand, why waste any more time over it. I personally hate dealers, who ask you for every single hand whether you gonna hit or stand. Not to mention the ones who ask me whether I want to split or double my 5's....

I guess it's part of the enjoyment of the game for me. I get to decide what happens. I know "time is money" in this game but it also helps slow things down for me if things are moving too fast for me to keep count or I need a quick break. Again, I'm really quite new at this so my opinions may change and I mean no disrespect to the players who don't mind when the dealer moves past. That's just my own personal pet peeve. If I don't have a say (even an obvious one) it makes me feel like I'm no longer playing, that's all.

But I'm one of those old fuddy-duddies who likes to have things be like I expect them to be. And I expect that the dealer will wait for my signal.

Besides, one of these days I'm going to split tens. :eyepatch:

Oh man, I saw the dealer ask this to a woman that was sitting at a table I was eyeing, and she consulted her laminated strategy chart, apparantly misread it, and decided to split. It was miserable. I wanted to jump in there, but as I wasn't even playing at the table, it was totally not my place.

Surprised you have a choice on this!

Oh another thing, say you were playing a $10 minimum, you double down and win, do you prefer to get paid 2x5 + 2x5 or 4x5 (one stack)?

i like the payment spread out not stacked.
Yes, spread out. It's easier for the player, and the camera, to see what's going on. Easier for you, too, in the case of the dummy who doubles for less.

(Just had to try that multiple quote feature!)

We have to and for good reason. The other day, I did ask the guy if he was splitting or doubling against my Ten, he said double. Later on I won, he said he wanted to split, and I told him I already asked him. He let it go.

If they double for less, we cant put it all in one stack anyway, must be paid side by side for partials. But yeah, I'll try not to pay in one stack unless I have to.

Always show the burn card. I hate asking as it draws so much attention and usually from other players. On more than one occasion I've had other players comment "Only counters want to see the burn card".

May I ask, what do you like to see the dealer say when he is new to the table. Like, hi how is everyone today/tonight, or Hello, or, smile?
I like it when the dealers are friendly, and MOST in my casino are.

Normally depends how low cut my dress is though!

Nah, only joking, our dealers are a decent bunch.
