Well put Mach. Even though I've not met Jason, I almost feel like I know him. Don't know if it's because he expresses himself well or because he reminds me a lot of myself (probably some of both).

The Syph says he's hunting elephants with rubberbands. zg
Not true, and quite stirring up trouble. Everyone knows rubber bands are next to useless on big game.

You need the paper clip.

KJ is doing it his way... It has got him to where he is today.....He's in his comfortzone...
All of us have different levels of his or hers comfort levels. That includes, bet sizes, style of play, spreads....etc..
He has worked his way up from nothing ......to something.....and i will be willing to make a huge bet......he isnt stopping at the level he is at.
I know for myself when i make a decision whether the outcome is good or bad....it was my decision and made to the best of my ability at the time.... Second guessing oneself never feels good.... Arm yourself with as much information as you can on the subject at hand and make YOUR decision. !!!! Life got alot better for me when i started doing that for ME along long time ago !!!!
The rubber band thingy or paper clip thing ... That will be conquered one day too......
Gettem KewlJason........just getttem :whip:

Billy,

You really should follow in his, KJ's footsteps. You sure are in a far better position to start the quest than what KJ tells of his beginning.

Live your dream Billy C, I know you could do it.

That was BP's definition. I use min-bet unit definition also, but a more scientific definition
might be either average bet or max bet. How many max bets was your swing? zg

Uston: "Ahh, the swings!"
Interesting question. I once went from 400 units (min bets) down to 50 units up in a weekend. :) My avg bet was 14 units, so that was a swing of 32 avgbets. My spread was up to 2x50 (carny game), so that was only a 4.5 maxbet swing. It felt more dramatic than that . . .

Dear Friend CP,

Didn't we have a discussion some time ago, where I was on the receiving end of you non-approving talk down (webster's def) concerning what you perceived as me encouraging people to take this route?

Very nice!

So when do we get to hear about the other interesting events? I'm totally curious now.

I also experienced a huge swing recently of 420 units, putting me up 200 (this happened over 2 days though, and I'm a red chipper, so not as impressive).

Anyway, one of the coolest things happened at the last hand of a sweet shoe... The count was +10, and I had 2 max bets out, and there were 3 other people at the table, all betting a decent amount. The dealer starts dealing the cards and I see a 5 and a 6 for my first cards of each hand. For a second, I'm like $#!^ but he sweeps around and follows up with a 6 and a 5! I look around the table and see that the lady to my right has a 7,4 and the guy to my left has 8,3, and 3rd base has a 20... The dealer was showing a ten. The lady doubles, and gets a ten... I hesitate and pretend like I might not double, then I place both of my double bets out and say "Just give me one ten, and I'll be happy". Dealer not only gives me 2 tens, but also gives the guy after me a ten, and flips a 7 for himself! As I was coloring up, I couldn't help but be amazed to have seen so many unfavorable cards all fall in the right order :)

Less impressive? Not at all, farmdoggy. 420 (my favorite number BTW..) units is 420 units! Way to go. It's so nice when the cards behave as they 'are supposed to', because it happens so infrequently.

Now concerning your 'location'. I have seen 2 different states occupying the bottom spot on different list. It is probably no coincidence that they border one another. Maybe the desert sun burns up brain cells. In my defense, Nevada was near the bottom long before I moved here, so I don't think I am to blame. I may help them retain the position though.

KJ,
I know Billy, he clearly would like to do what you do, live the life, and he is in excellent position to do so, having had a very profitable career,,, so clearly no harm could come from him starting another, and he has skillz.

I am happy you are doing well KJ, you give many here hope of what can be done with straight counting, even though some big hitters here would laugh at the thought. My friend the wizard, SOH, will be making a run at a Pro career, getting a taste of it, and I am sure he has been follwing your quest as has many others. I have said my piece, over time, about the dangers of what you have chosen as a life style, if others desire to emulate you, than they can go for it, no problem here.

I also have a close friend, a straight counter, that has literally turned the casino into his private ATM, and he also has shown that a good amount of money can still be had straight counting under the right conditions.

So have at it KJ, just remember my references about Wyatt and Hitchcock, I was not high when I wrote it,:), there is a serious message to you in that post.

Well, I appreciate your well wishes also, CP. While I haven't met SoH, I have communicated with him a little bit. Like you, I am convinced he will do well. :)

But im a good actor and i always thought it was important to show emotion in the casino to be more ploppiesque. but now thta i think about it plenty of high rollers just win or lose and walk away liek nothing happened.

Well I just divided 2100 by 5 and thought a few people would like that number

Not only is there a "desert sun" to burn up my brain cells in this state, but we also have some of the easiest and cheapest access to the good stuff... Hmm...

But by "the good stuff" I actually meant the crappy Mexican stuff... :cool2:
