hats off to her but i'll be dammed her second time playing.
i wish they had posted her winnings im sure all of us would like to know.
but the late Stanley Fujitake had that record forever it seemed. someones got to break it now. what about dominator and schlobete?

On the idea that the self-described dice controllers should be shooting for these records...

Grosjean's new Beyond Counting Exhibit CAA has some interesting information about dice control and craps records. Essentially he shows that even if you assume that a player has very strong control over dice outcomes, the probability of achieving a record-breaking hand is still incredibly small.

Couple that with the vast millions of recreational players compared to the tiny handful of proclaimed dice controllers and the chance that a controller will set or hold a record is effectively zero. If any of these dice control players were to make a claim to one of these records, the assertion would be highly suspicious.

Well said. Not impossible, but very improbable.

The longest rolls I've ever personally witnessed have been by folks that were just chucking those suckers down to the other end like the dice were hot potatoes.

About this story though, one wondered how long it would take for Stanley's record to fall Darn near 20 years to the day. Good for her though...couldn't imagine being at that table. Wow!

You're too much, Katweezel. :laugh: Those are dream rolls...more on the lines of hitting the Powerball lotto, even with a consistent amount of skill. Ken said it best. I'm happy with small gains, but would never cry if I did that!

Being at the table for a couple hour-long rolls, I've gotta say that four hours would be off the charts. Lucky folks! :joker:

I caught this in the Washington Times today. Jack, does it sound right tht she only had 154 rolls in 4 hours and 18 minutes? That's only 36 rolls an hour. It doesn't sound right to me, but then, I don't play that much. I would be interested in knowing how many points she made.

I am guessing that they didn't say how much she won, because she didn't win much. I read that a previous record in Vegas was the scene of everyone betting against the roller because they just didn't believe he could keep it up. I'm not sure what the roller himself bet. But it is human nature to fear your luck will run out and to not risk your initial winnings. If she was a novice, she may not have even known to take the odds. She may have bet minimum bet every throw! Wouldn't that take the cake! Yes, I'm guessing she didn't win much, because the Borgata would want that news spread all over the world:

Come to the Borgata where Jane Doe won $1,000,000 with an incredible 4 hour and 18 minute run of luck!!!!

If a DC had been rolling for over an hour and a half, and there were people winning big money, the house would have made him stop setting and may even have taken the dice from him! Is that a possibility? He would probably have been forced to just grab and chunk.. And if it was his time as it was hers, he may have still rolled for hours! The bank on that table had to have been refilled several times.

Me too. Most of the long rolls I've seen are people having a 4/10 point and not hitting 7 for an extended period of time. The big winners are people who make place bets or come bets, but the straight pass+odds bettors don't win much at the end because only a few points are made.

Have you ever seen the underlined bits happen, ever? I would imagine there would be a full revolt if either of those happened.

I've seen people get all freaked out when one of the dice flies off the table and taken out of play (i.e. thousands of dollars taken off the table) much less having the house intentionally change the dice.

yes, all of em. I didnt mention the pit sending in a cocktail waitresses to fill everybody up. slowing play even further by refilling the chips. another one is changing stickmen. I really think that the house is very superstitious, as evidenced partly by slowing down the play, and changing as much of the environment as possible.

ps. I forgot to add the time housekeeping ran a vacuum sweeper through the area,(at like 4am) and the remaining players had to stop, and move around to accomodate. or maybe that was when I got poured into a golf cart at dawn to attempt knocking down 9 holes before going back to the crap table. you know, the vacuum thing might not have happened at all.

one of my favorite protests is telling mgt. that they should put up a sign above every door that reads... "We cheat drunks"

In my experience on hot rolls (of course, I've only witnessed rolls 1/3 that length), the table gets full of action: more people with multiple Place bets, everybody playing the Pass Line, multiple Come bets volleying up and down, center prop bets out the wazoo.

All this equates to more time paying off wagers in between each roll. In a big hand like that, rarely is there ever a roll that doesn't require the dealers to pay here, there, and everywhere. And when it's a center prop bet, it's a coordinated effort between stickman determining the payout for each winner, then relaying it to that side's dealer.

That's my shot at it.

Or even the dreaded "fill"! Uggh...always seems to take much longer when it comes in the middle of a good hand.

But yes, I'm with you Brutus. I've also been part of a craps game where the dice were swapped out ("it was time"), a sudden increase in drink girl frequency, etc. Disrupting the flow of the craps game has more superstitious value in this game than probably any other table game.

I was involved in a roll that lasted at least two hours while dealing at the Mint in downtown Las Vegas in 1980. I was pulled off an empty table halfway through the roll to step in. The dealer on the left side could not pay off bets fast enough with his left hand. The pit boss told me that the goal is "to keep the dice in the air" by paying fast. I wanted a seven out every roll because of the havoc when any number hit. 6's and 8's were being pressed up, come bets weren't "off and on", and every player was yelling orders at same time in the chaos. I understood everyone. The pit only cared that the game was run efficiently and FAST. Being involved in a monster roll is like the "Twilight Zone". Everything seemed in slow motion.

Hey Chef, at Blackjack, I've heard many whinings about the flow of the cards being disrupted. Here it is again, in another game. The flow gets around a bit, don't it... Hell, even casinos want to stop it, the fearful, superstitious bastards... :cat:

I was at Bellagio last November ( I believe) playing craps. The golden touch boys were in town doing a seminar. For those of you not familiar that is Schlobete, Dominator and crew. I ran into a control shooter at Mirage and he mentioned to me that at 10am the next day that Dominator would be playing at Bellagio. I seen the show on Bio channel about breaking Vegas and all so I thought what the hell, I'll throw 1k down and see what happens ( if I can even get on the table).

I get there a little early and no sign of Dominator, but here's whats so damn funny, one of their students held the dice for about 40 minutes and I cashed out close to 9k. The pit kept checking the dice every now and then but kept the game going fast. After this guy 7'd out I cashed out and my wife says " Dominator's at that table over there". So I go throw 1k out and then another 1k out and manage to lose close to 2k on the "Dominator" and a few their instructors. Dominator uses the hardway set, which I firmly DO NOT believe in, I'd say he avg. maybe 4-5 rolls b4 a 7.

Go buy a set of dice and set it on the hardways, figure how many combinations of a 7 there are if you keep them on axis. Then set them on the 3v or 4v and figure it out, it's a no brainer. As far as a random shooter having this monster roll of 4 plus hours it doesn't surprise me that a random shooter did it, as Ken Smith pointed out a controlled shooter isn't ever going to break this record. But, a control shooter who can keep them dice on axis 1 out of every 3 shakes will make damn good money. So over the long haul I'll take a shooter who can go 12 shakes w/out a 7 compared to a lucky 1 hour roll and a bunch of 7 outs the rest of the day.

I would like to add that the student that had the big roll set the Die on 3v
