Chat Guest 7-9-09!
Our Chat Guest will be none other than the famed author and BJ Great, the one and only....Kevin Blackwood of "The Counter" fame.

Kevin spent many years as a BJ Pro winning over a million dollars and having a plethora of experiences in the BJ world of the AP.

Kevin is a very down to Earth BJ Celeb and this will prove to be a very memorable chat with one of the Greats.

Be there or be square!

There was a psychologist gambling writer AP in the 70s who wrote some books and
articles about how "intelligent gambling is good for you." Anyone remember his name? zg

This sounds like an awesome chat. Unfortunately, I'm going to be in Las Vegas that weekend doing some ... um ... risk assessment of my own.

What time in GMT?

RJT.

ET ~ East Coast Time
Eastern Standard Time (EST) = GMT-5

Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) = GMT-4

BJC

Edit: I'm not a math guy... hope this helps..

What time zone Eastern Time?
Eastern Time is the Eastern Time Zone of the United States of America (USA) and Canada. Eastern Standard Time (EST) is 5 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time (GMT-5).

Does Eastern Time observe Daylight Saving Time?
In most states in the USA and in most provinces in Canada, Daylight-Saving Time (DST) is observed. During DST the time is shifted forward by 1 hour to EDT; which is 4 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time (GMT-4).

After the Summer months Eastern Time is shifted back by 1 hour to US Eastern Standard Time (EST) or (GMT-5).

The chat with Dr. Evans was very good and the moderated format was quite helpful, although when our moderator left after about one hour we lost the ability to communicate entirely.

I had made the case that Advantage Players were intelligent, by saying something along the lines of there being a highly significant correlation of both I.Q. and Education with Veteran Advantage Gamblers as compared to ordinary run-of-the-mill gambling habitues.

Dr. Evans took exception with my comment.

However Dr. Evans may have erred when he cited research by Ceci and Liker, which he said was contained in a book entitled "A Day at the Races" (1986)

That research is summarized below:

Ceci and Liker (1986) reported statistical independence of IQ and cognitive complexity as evidenced by horse-race handicapping. However, they dismissed too easily a potentially important finding contrary to their hypothesis: a negative correlation between IQ and years of horse-race experience among horse-race experts. Furthermore, F values for the relation between level of handicapping expertise and either level of education or occupational prestige (each of which correlates highly with IQ) are statistically too small and therefore suggest selectional biases.
