I'm not going to name names now, but you crazy guys, you know who you are, now they've eliminated backline betting at BJ and SP21 as of next week. :whip: Drat!
 
Wow, they get huge extra ploppy action by allowing backline betting; there must have been some ridiculously aggressive playing for them to do something so drastic, that would hurt their action so much. I'm curious what it took!

Someone backlining a table min bet with a table max bet or something?

If Foxwoods loses money on their decision, they will reverse it. Of course they will lose money, they make money when people play BJ. Any interference in the cards moving and people betting is bad for their business.:joker::whip:

I understand the DE casinos are overcrowded? They should allow backline betting.:joker::whip:
 
Sure. They jam the tables as full as they possibly can, and now make it even harder to get a bet down. It's a permanent decision, I suppose. What fools.

If I was a casino manager and I ever, EVER saw full tables I would be looking for someone to fire!

If people see crowded tables they will leave. Even if you think you have trapped patrons because there is no other place to go. They will go eat, watch a movie in which case they have less gambling time because they are going to eventually leave. The worse thing is if they never come back because they don't like sitting jammed up next to someone else who may smell, be drunk or otherwise unpleasant.:joker::whip:

Also, with full tables no one can play 2 hands, so they don't lose faster so someone else can sit down!
 
Full tables is Foxwoods' MO. One time I was there with AM at a Sp21 table. Right in the middle of a shoe (and a high count!) they told us they were closing down the whole pit NOW. We asked if we could finish out the shoe and they said no.
 
Again, I suspect some stupid accountant is behind it! Let's see, if we cut five tables, that's 3 shifts of dealers' per table, 15 dealers in all, which is 120 hours a day, 840 hours a week at $8 an hour, that's $6,720 a week, $80,640 a year. So I've saved the casino $80,000 a year, got myself a $10,000 bonus for my good work, and ........ cost the casino hundreds of thousands of unseen dollars in business. Not bad for one day's work...........at destroying the casino's business.

I'd guess it's actually a sacrificial back-line betting play. If the backliner doesn't have to always split, you can get like 2% by not always splitting. For example, 22 vs. A you never split, but you do if the $5 bettor only has to post for the split.
 
Sorry to see this go. I wasn't always a fan of it as I had a couple bad experiences where people backlined my bets and got hostile upon not approving of my moves. However, I have grown to see it as a positive opportunity, especially when casino is overcrowded. I think I know why they are taking it away, not certain but I have put two and two together based on some things that I have heard and deduced what I think is a likely reason for it.

Yep. The move isn't all that valuable, and requires a very high ratio of back-to-front betting.

I'm very curious as to what it took to get them to drop it. Perhaps some rampant cheating and/or dealer errors?

Foxwoods dealers only make between $4.50 - $5.50 an hour. I don't know if the recent union troubles have contributed to this decision. The MGM dealers just lost about $300.00 a week because they combined with Foxwoods.
25 % of MGM dealers have left in last couple months and many more will.

Interesting. I would have thought they made closer to minimum wage, but I guess the "tips" factor gives them the right to low ball their salaries, similar to waiters.
