Question of Age

I'm 24 as of this post. Started playing blackjack when I was 21.

When I first joined this site, my first impression was that there weren't many younger guys under 30. Over the past couple years it has become apparent that there is a whole crop of such youngsters. I am not talking about the frequent newbies to the site that post for a week and then disappear, but rather the lads that have a good head on their shoulders and know what they are doing and where they are going. I don't need to mention any names, it is apparent from their posts. So the number in the 21-30 category now doesn't surprise me. I am a little surprised at the 60+ numbers. I would have thought their would have been more retired guys out there. Maybe some of that crowd, having witnessed the deterioration of blackjack conditions over recent years have given up on it all together.

I agree that those in the 60+ age bracket saw the glory days and most are sickened by what is available today and many moved on.

Good point AM. I was referring to the tradition sense of retirement at 65ish with pension and/or social security.

Some of that, some death, bad health, etc. I'm compulsive, so I'll play down to zero EV (or very slightly below) just for the "fun" of it.

I had a friend, a govt. employee, who was able to retire at age 48 with an "early out." He had made so much money on real estate in the 70's double digit inflation, he could see no point in hanging around for additional pension benefits.
