Never got the Slap Chop though, don't cook enough.

You haven't missed anything. It's a joke! My wife had one and the spring flew the first time she used it. That was the end of that. She got it as a free gift at BJs when purchasing one of those never-need-sharpening knife sets. Looked the same, but may have been a different product.
