Out of curosity, do you know HOW to calculate the EV? Do you have any links about how the EV is calculated/programed?
I mean it's nice to just flip a switch and get electricity but every once in awhile don't you just wonder HOW the juice gets to the source

Amazing, isn't it? Hard to believe it's only selective memory. My personal theory is this way that we remember losing more than winning protects us from having gambling problems. Compulsive gamblers tend to block out the losses and remember winning.
DD 10 vs. 9 is also a worthwhile index play for reducing variance. Don't do it if your TC is less than -1 in High-Low or other balanced level 1 systems.

yeah, especially in high counts. However, doubling an eleven also gets you a drawn ten a ridiculously high percentage of the time, which is sooo worth it.

It does SEEM like more aces come when you double on 11, but it's like the ol' "7's gonna come when the dice go off the table" deal in craps. It's all about perception/remembering what you want (or what you wish to forget)!
Calculating the EV is one of those things that you wont get much help on from most people...it is not the easiest things in the world. I did a whole Excel spreadsheet to come up with EVs. Granted it is based on an infinite deck, but I have come up with some interesting situations that slightly vary from BS...haven't tested them, but they are a bit aggressive.

Calculating EV's is not difficult (except splits maybe). All you do is go through all the possible dealer hands given the cards that have been drawn from the deck and multiply the resulting EV (win/lose/push) by the probability of the hand happening.

But only when you have a minimum bet out.It certainly seems that the higher the bet,the less frequently the ten pops up.

Is this because of math, or karma? I still see a lot of 10s when the count is high, it's just that an annoying large number of aces also sneak in there, for understandable reasons.

Except, of course, when we DD on 8, 9 or 10! In balance, when I split 10's I seem to catch a lot of aces too.
It all has to do with expectation. When we double on 11 we are expecting a 10 and when we get it it doesn't stand out in our minds. When we get anything else it does. That's why we are AP's- we go in with a game plan and an expectation of winning and when that expectation isn't met we think about it a lot. A non-AP goes in expecting to lose and they remember the big wins.
