A 3:2 payout for a $100 bet would be $150.
A 6:5 payout for a $100 bet would be $120.
Avoid 6:5 at all costs. The house edge on these games is usually around 1.5%. Most shoe games range from 0.4-0.8% depending on rules and the number of decks. A basic strategy will usually lose their money 3-4 times faster playing a 6:5 game.

Almost all of the casinos in Vegas have 3:2 games. A few of those places offer both so be sure to look at the sign on the table before you sit down.

Be aware of single deck
Single deck is not always the best game because in Vegas a lot of time they short change you with a 6 to 5 payout meaning you get $30 less on your $100 blackjack! Double deck games are usually the best because you can get a 3 to 2 double deck game with double any two double after a split!

If staying on the strip.
The strip has no playable single deck games, but some casinos have very good double deck and 6 deck shoes. Other casinos have some terrible double deck games and poor 6 deck and 8 deck shoes. So the area of the strip can help us guide you away from bad games.

they use whole numbers to describe payouts, otherwise everything would be X:1.. 3:2=1.5:1, 6:5=1.2:1, etc.. of course then you would have the question of "why do they pay 1.2?".. also, casinos have $2.50 chips incase there is an odd amount, but if you are a very low bettor, never bet a $2.50 chip, as they dont have $.25 chips, and they will round down, thus you lose $.25! oh yes, a quarter loss everytime you bet a pink and get a blackjack, you will go broke! hey, this mattered to me when i played $3 blackjack betting flat
Probably just me, but if I had to ask what the pay-out on a $100 BJ is, at any odds, I might think twice about betting $50-$200.

It is different from casino to casino. Some casinos don’t use $2.50 chips at all so you won’t get stiffed for betting odd amounts. Instead they might use fifty-cent chips/coins or actual quarters. I like casinos that use quarters because I can joke about earning my “laundry money.” :grin:

One casino I go to pays a $2.50 chip on BJ with 4 $1.00 chips(and takes the $2.50 chip) so you make a quarter if you get a BJ with a $2.50 chip in the bet.
Another doesn't have $2.50 chips but instead have $.50 chips. Those get paid even money on a BJ so there you lose a quarter on a BJ with a $.50 chip bet.

If they only pay $4 and then take that $2.50 chip, instead of a 3.50 or 3.75 profit on your blackjack, you are getting a 1.50 profit. That is blackjack paying 5/8 or quite a bit less than 1 to 1.

I had it bass-ackwards. For a $2.50 chip they pay you $4. If you have a $1.00 chip bet they give you a $2.50 chip and take the $1.00 chip.
Seems like that would be to your advantage then. 3:2 payout on a $2.50 Blackjack would be $3.75. If they give you $4.00, it would be even better. Or am I missing something?

I think it might be enough to turn most games in favor of the player. As long as you always bet $2.50/hand lol.

i always wondered why casinos dont have 50 cent chips, or use actual quarters.. good to know some do, i would also prefer that
this is more significant than you think.. if you are betting $5.50, it would go as follows: .25/5.50 = 4.5%, then .045*.0476(chance of getting blackjack)=.02, so just by betting $5.50 instead of $5 or $6, you automatically reduce the house edge by .02%, which is a sweet deal i think, for doing basically nothing.. of course if you are betting like $20, this is a non-factor
Your math mystifies me lol.
Firstly, 0.045*0.0476 does not equal 0.02.
Secondly, it doesn't equal 0.02% either.
Thirdly, the chances you state of getting BJ is wrong in any game.
Fourthly, don't forget to divide by the bet amount.
Fifthly, I don't even understand why you chose a $5.50 bet or what you are paid for a BJ if that was your original bet.
Not to mention why "betting $5 or $6" leads to the same reduction in HA.
The big point here is that winning an extra 25 cents on a $2.5 BJ bet (getting paid 4$ instead of $3.75) is enough to turn the HA to the player's favor in even a 6D game.
