OH! also another question... on when to call over the big player.

how many decks should have been gone though. or how many should remain in the shoe?

Depends how big of a bankroll you have. If you're flat betting X and the big player comes in with big bets of Y, then your team is essentially spreading X to X+Y instantaneously at the count at which the BP is called. Adjust your desired ROR to fit your bankroll with that spread to see when the BP should be called in.

If you're counting correctly, you should know the answer to this question.
 
It will also depend on how many spotters you have working for you. These questions are answered in the Frequently Asked Questions thread at the top of this forum.

HA! Yea ... that's where I learned that when the count is +16 you cross your arms behind your back to signal the BP who proceeds to bet $1K plus and NEVER ....... and I mean NEVER loses unless he doesn't leave when you run your hands through your hair in which case he loses $200,000

Why did they have the spotter telling the BP to leave? Doesn't the BP pick up the count and the spotter move to another table.

to make sure the BP doesn't pull a sucker move like splitting 8s against a 10.
