$15 game at the Wynn

I was surprised to find a $15 6-deck game at the Wynn. I thought it was all high roller except for CSMs. Also, they said they would grandfather me in when they raised the limit. It didn't matter as I had to leave and was $200 down at the time.

Tiny bit less. I went over to the Trop, first time ever. Played 4 hours up $100, down $100, then hit monster losing shoe, down $750, then with 3% advantage played two hands at $225 each. Caught a 9/2 on both hands with a dealer upcard of 2. Doubled down both hands. Caught a 3 on both hands. Yikes! Same ole same ole?! Dealer turned a 10, then hit a face to bust! Yumpin Yimminies! That was an $1,800 turn around. So I colored up and went to the VP to relax. Card wouldn't work. Complained to the pit boss back at the tables and he said, "It won't work with a Wynn card, sir." lol Went back, played Deuces Wild for ten minutes and hit 4 deuces and an Ace for $1,000 win on $40 played. Out the door--just woke up. End of story.

Wynn H17's on anything less than green chips. Wynncore has S17 6d shoes at $25 during midweek and mornings.

Outside of these times, I'd expect any S17 games will require black chips.

I also think its unlikely that Vegas will make ALL low-roller BJ CSM. They do that in the high-end places but that's more of a "get out of our store and gamble somewhere cheaper" thing. Or, in Wynncore's case, a "fleece the dumb Cali Douchebags" thing.

They don't save very much money at all, their cost probably outweighs their benefit relative to ASM/Shoe.

Note that CSMs only dominate markets with far less competition than Vegas (Macau has an oligopoly and BJ isn't the big game there, and Europe/Australia have monopoly casinos backed by the government). These casinos are bound to make much fatter profit margins than the Vegas ones, hence they can easily afford the CSMs.

I started using the red card for comps which is something I assume you're also doing. Can I safely play positive EV (i.e. 8-1 green on 6d) and still get the goods? I've noticed dealers quick to notify the pit of surrender plays which seemed pretty conservative for a place like this.

I only played half an hour. I think it's like everywhere else. You create your own heat. Hit and run will keep you from getting backed off but you won't earn much of those comps you mentioned (and if you are observed one of those times they will notate your record for the next time you appear).

Play-all (wonging out when necessary) will get you those comps, but you will have to use cover -- whatever works for you. Once anyone is suspicious, the primary test is whether you increase your bet as the count goes positive. If they ID you they will probably check to see whether you are a winner or a loser. I know large casinos on the strip that carry many counters because they are consistent losers.

Now to put it all in perspective, they don't care much about someone taking a couple thousand from the tables, but if you are blatant about it and call attention to yourself, they will oblige you and back you off for even a modest amount.

The casino's main focus (besides keeping their own staff honest) are the big bettors. If you are spreading small, a house like Wynn will let you count all day long. You should be able to figure a way to cover your play sufficiently without giving up all your advantage and garner a bunch of those comps, as well. But always remember, even a pit person who cannot count a lick can still spot someone who jumps from $25 to $200 for several hands win or lose, and then returns to min bet next shoe, and that is all it takes to motivate a call upstairs.

PS--BTW, When Wynn first opened, they had Vegas's best dealers. Many left when they revealed their tip policy, but I assume many are still there. Top dealers are not infrequently counters themselves. You might try a well placed tip or two to see if you can influence better pen. Sometimes savvy dealers are in sympathy with counters, although sometimes they are staunch company people who will alert the pit to your play. Just a thought.

I usually don't play rated, but after 20 hours of anonymous hit and run up and down the strip, it's kind of nice to just chill out at the end of a trip and play for comps before the flight home. Of course, I tell myself to take it easy but that monster count inevitably arrives and before I know it I'm instinctively progressing into the black chips. Oh cocktail waitress! On second thought, forget the coffee and make it a beer.
